Just out of curiosity, did you put ketchup on it? I once tried one at Pappadeux's (sp?) when they had it on special and the waiter wouldn't serve me ketchup with it...I literally had to ask for a manager because it was so outrageous. Apparently Ketchup + Gator don't mix?

When I was in Shanghai on business, my host brought me to a restaurant and served me all kinds of strange food, but the weirdest was duck tongues.
I was also walked through "wet markets" and Jesus Christ, there isn't a single part of the animal they don't sell & eat. |

My #1 has to be the time that I was the round-eye of honor at a fancy mongolian bbq palace in Shenzhen and my work colleagues ordered a whole roast goat. And I mean whole. They very ceremoniously presented me with a small clay pot in which the eyes had been stewed. I ate one. They were pretty impressed. |

Nutria, alligator, squirrel... gator is good when prepared correctly, the other two, tried once and will never eat again!

If you’re not from south Louisiana or Florida, many consider it weird…. As for nutria, it’s a little like escargot in that it wasn’t that bad but just knowing what it is makes it a no go for me. I mean who looked at a snail oozing across the ground and said “hmm…. Look tasty”.

tadpoles!
My 2nd week of Ranger School.... definitely swallowed a few of those during the CWSA, as you could see them (seemingly in the hundreds) in the water by the shore line when getting smoked

Nutria (stew), moose. We cook beef/veal/pork tongues all the time. Good as a cold cut with horseradish.

Two weirdest that come to mind are reindeer sausage and sea cucumber. Had the reindeer up in Alaska and the sea cucumber at a Chinese wedding when I was a little kid but I do remember it! I have also tried, like alot of you, aligator & escargot.
Also somewhat strange, in Alaska, I also had spruce tip beer. It was pretty good but I could not drink a whole pint of it. Just too much of that pine tree taste |

Moose and alligator are the tastiest, out of all the game meats.
Rattlesnake was the strangest. Sort of like the grizzle on a steak, but chicken-ish flavored. |

Growing up mom made a soffrito with cow's heart and lung in a pan with garlic, onion and tomato sauce. It was delicious as a sandwich. I keep ground alpaca and mutton in the freezer now.

Never eaten turkey necks, we used to put them in our crab traps as bait though...
