Help Me...Engagement Ring.

Hi
I am going to propose to my GF. I went to the jeweller to pick a ring yesterday and I have a ring which I know she will like. However when I search the internet for the Diamond which is going to go on the ring I found the Diamond online with the same Certificate (GIA) for atleast 3K less. Question is should I buy the Diamond online? It comes with 30 day return gurantee or should I just get it from the local jewellery store ?

Thanks

uh fuck that - buy it online. Local jewelry stores are the biggest rip off on the planet. They come from the same place and are certified by the same people - why the hell would you not buy online? Cut out the bullshit expensive middle man.

If there is a 30 day money back guarantee - no questions asked, then buy it from the net. If it is the exact same ring, why not save $3,000 for the honeymoon, etc.

Very nice. I'd suggest a round stone (more fire, more facets, longer retainage of value), but if that's what she wants, you're doing the right thing.

Cut should be excellent. Princess is a shape.

That's quite a nice (and expensive) stone. Check out bluenile.com. What made you choose a stone with those specs?

Round, or solitare, cut is more expensive than a square, or pricess, cut. The round cut generally uses less of the stone, so you have more waste.

Like I said in my OP, I went to one of the fine jewellers in town and when they showed me the Diamonds they have in stock. They don't carry any thing below I grade and Clarity SI1!!!. So all I saw was some of the best stones they had. After that I went through the collection and see what I could afford and I came up with those specs.

I know for the money I am going to spend If I change the spec's I will be able to get a bigger one. But I thought it is all about quality.

Thanks guys for all the feed back.
