It's a pretty color. The best color IMO

I pay every 7 weeks for that color.

Do you know how sensitive 9 year old girls are? Hair is a big thing in that age, being sick and not understanding what is happening, its bad.

I doubt my hair can be used. It would be a good reason though to get rid of it finally.

I think society is teaching little girls to be superficial. At some point we need to teach our girls that they're just as beautiful...

I agree with you on this but there is a difference between being ill and having to deal with all the stuff that comes with cancer, and normal life.

Lol, it's a stupid mess that rastafaris have.

It looks like it's been dyed too many times, the ends are totally white (many summers of swimming) where as the roots show dark if I'm out of the water for a few days. Totally stupid and I'd be happy to cut it off and keep a hat on and to turn into a brunette.

You know, it's crazy, I have photos of my Mom as a young child and her hair is as white as snow. She was naturally a platinum blonde all through high school and then in photos with my sister and me as babies I can see her hair turned darker. Now her roots are extremely dark as a brunette looking color and she gets her hair highlighted blonde now. Crazy how it changed over the years, I loved her platinum natural color. Too bad that gene skipped over me.

A little girl doesnt understand society. Most little girls absolutely LOVE their long hair. It's just natural. Long hair is more of a security blanket for little girls than a fashion statement.

For a little girl to lose something she loves and cannot understand why is devastating for her.

My son:

His hair is completely white, as was mine before kids. Age and hormones change that but sun makes it still turn into that color.

To the post below: I agree with you in this. I'd hate to be in her parents shoes trying to explain to a scared kid that hair doesn't matter. Sure, it doesn't. It's dead fibers that hang in our heads but with that much going on already, I do get that losing hers will be a huge hit.

Do you get 7 yo girls fake teeth when they lose their baby teeth? No, bc society and rightly so, say it's okay, they'll grow back.
A lot of lil girls are conditioned by their parents and i've seen moms whip their girls into a frenzy over nothing.

Unless you have a background in developmental psych, you're projecting. Kids first know what their parents teach them.

I disagree with you. ALL children lose teeth. They know this.

Only a fraction of children get cancer and lose their hair.

You are comparing apples to oranges here.

Adorable children.

Your son on the left has the hair now that my Mom used to have naturally.

Funny, I'm with Sara in this one.

I had short hair always, and I doubt I would've cared if it had fallen off. I do know that for most it would've been a huge issue.

It has nothing to do with vanity in the end. It is the person wanting to blend in instead of getting looks of pity all the time.

I've lost everyone i loved as a kid to cancer, and I've seen what it does to the psyche. To appear normal and healthy is a big thing then as stupid as it sounds.

Their hair will grow back as well. Remember how the world freaked out when Britney Spears cut her hair? Basically we are telling the lil girls to conform to the dumbasses that think a girl's hair is her identity. Just my opinion...

I remember there was a Citabria that crashed at an air show in front of 100's of kids bussed in to watch the show. The adults were freaking out asking to offer counseling to the "traumatized" kids. The kids i talked to were fine, they thought it was pretty cool.

My 15yo son is growing out his hair so he can cut/donate it. Needs to be 10" long. HE gets so much guff from his teammates when his hair sticks out of his baseball hat, but he's sticking to it. As long as he keeps it clean, I don't care. He's going to have a hard time, because unlike the Fabio pictures you project on me, mine (and his) is relatively curly hair.

I'm with the ladies on this one. I totally understand why a nine year-old girl would want a wig. She is fighting a terrible disease and wants things as normal as possible. Part of that is having hair like other kids her age...

My 14 year-old son has type 1 diabetes. He just wanted to be normal at that age as well and for him that meant not taking out his test kit or pump in front of other kids. To test his blood sugar we would have to go to another room etc. He has matured and now doesn't hold this view but I get it...

If you have a well adjusted kid that doesn't depend on others for validation, this wouldn't be an issue. Instilling confidence should be one of the goals in parenting.
