Bye-bye car - wrecked my 2017 Mustang!

So, on my way to work Sunday, a huge rainstorm hit...enough to build huge ponds on the interstate. My rear tires have been balding for sometime, but never enough to cause any sort of issue...that was until then...I hit a big puddle, lost control, went through three lanes of traffic (without hitting anybody) and barreled into the wood another 30 or 40 feet while turning 180 degrees.

I managed to only walk away with a concussion, bumps, bruises and strains. It was a chilling moment that could've went much worse. Weirdly enough, despite the speed and crash, no air bag went off.

I'm waiting to hear back from the adjuster on if the car is totaled or not...

As of the crash, I had an M2 deposit placed...but I had to take it up, since I'm more than likely going to need a new car (and soon)...here is the list of possible replacements.

BMW M3/M4 (my forever want)
Jaguar F Type (lease deals are ridiculous)
Honda Type R
Focus RS
Golf R
Jaguar F Pace
Honda Civic Si (doubt it)
Honda Accord Coupe (Doubt it)
Mustang GT PP (premium, get a more loaded version of what I had)
Mustang GT350 (long shot)

So what do you guys think based on the pics...totaled?

Gee, it's great to hear you are ok. The car looks totaled, but the most important is that there are no casualties.

That’ll buff out. I’m periodically reminding my wife about buying good tires and making sure we don’t let them totally wear out. Since we own three cars and two motorcycles, something always needs new tires. When someone is off the side of the road, I typically notice their tires and most of the time, they are as you described yours to be. Glad you’re okay, don’t discount how important tires are to keeping you safe. The grip they provide isn’t just for the track.

Test drive them all, it's free. Very eclectic list. Just thinking , I should have had this logic before I got married at 21. No more test driving for me, well maybe a taste of the track event LOL

Glad you're okay.

Nice list of possible next cars. Whichever one you get, make sure there's enough money left over to replace tires before they go bald.

Good tires may not have made a difference in your situation, but driving on bald tires asking for it.

Why didn't you replace your bald tires when they were already worn down?

Did you run over any people doh?

Glad you made it out safe, mate. If you’re coming from a mustang, I would say skip all of the 4 cylinder cars on your list, and go for the GT350, F-Type if you get the V8, or the M4.

Very happy to hear you made it out unscathed.

Is it too early to ask if this happened leaving a cars and coffee?

If you’re considering an F-Type or other cars in a similar price range, I really recommend you test a Corvette C7. Very happy with mine so far after 4,000 miles over three months.

I’m definitely considering the F Type. Lease deals are truly insane for them.

Nah. He didn't set off any airbag sensors. That takes front or side impact and he had neither. The front plastic was torn off by who knows what and the scratches/dents on the sides are relatively minor. I'm guessing but it looks like the car went off the road backwards.

Happened to me in my 640 and sent me into a highway divider at 140kph after spinning twice on the passing lane. I was fine and the car survived but I've been traumatized ever since.

Glad to hear you're okay, OP, and it's a shame what happened to your beautiful car.

This is what I'm being told. That being said, not one piece of car is okay (minus the roof). I think the engine was compromised (I hit a ditch, that's what stopped the car) and the adjuster says he believes underbody damage. But I won't know if anything is totaled until he calls. Still waiting to hear back on the official word.

My rims/brakes all took a beating too. My muffler was bent as well and the back end was all mangled (I can't find any pics of the back end)

Spinning once was enough for me, I'm fine with spinning twice. Glad to see you're okay as well.

And yeah, as much as I was pushing for a new car, I truly did love the hell out of that car. It was a great 12k miles. Unfortunate it had to end the way it did.

It has made car shopping exciting, but stressful. Trying to get insurance to sorta hurry up so I can have some sort of transportation. I denied my rental insurance, just because my family has many cars. My parents were nice enough to let me have their CX5 while they were on vacation.
