Formula 1 Doesn't Need DRS Anymore

I agree. As I've said about the top three, I'd like to see the rest of the field have it and catchup to the front three.

I think we do but we're getting closer to not needing it.

I think it would make passing for all but the top few drivers with exceptional racecraft unable to pass and make an exciting race boring.

Never cared for DRS...just too artificial. The lead car too often has no defense while the overtaking car needs no skill (the speed differential is that large).

Personally I would like to get to a point where cars don't need drs to overtake. But I wouldn't want to see drs removed, I'd like for the FIA to just allow drivers to use it whenever and wherever, and since every driver will always have drs at their disposal it'll be like drs is gone.

This way it'll make driving more interesting with drivers having more tools at their disposal to set better lap times, and top speeds will be higher as well.

Personally, DRS is really important to keep racing exciting with overtaking opportunity. With that said I understand why some might want to get rid of it as racecraft improves with the design changes to lower dirty air. So I get it, but not to the point of elimination. I think there’s still a place for it but begin to figuring how to make it defendable or balanced. I don’t have a strong answer.. but it could be something like the battery power system where you earn/store DRS time (1 sec per detection zone), something that requires use of strategy when to deploy but not regularly available at a passing zone.

While it was really thrilling to see Max & Charles battle it out trading leads all because of DRS, it did leave me thinking it may be a bit overpowered. Yet I’d wait to see how the whole season plays out before making an decisions… elimination is likely too extreme.

DRS - as it has been is too much of a differential. As others have said, it turns my stomach when the lead car is helpless to the whim of uneducated entertainment consumers... for "exciting racing".

Enabling enough advantage to overcome even in dirty air? - aiding overtaking on an otherwise impossible track? fine. Giving enough advantage that a driver of equal skill with equal focus might out-drive the car ahead of them? sure.

10+hp differential on a long straight on these low drag, high downforce cars? too much. It's yucky.
