That MA credit you mentioned is more like $1500...

well the fuel savings shouldn't be already factored into the price, that's just disingenuous imo. obviously you'll see fuel savings but your mileage will vary.

That being said, this 35K stripper model 3 compares pretty well with any base level stripper models from other entry lvl lux sedans. i personally think the SR+ plus autopilot is the "sweet" spot of the bunch. for 5K above standard you get premium pack and autopilot, plus 20miles of range and faster 0-60 which seems reasonable.

The Model 3 is nice, but I cannot get past the interior, there is little substance and makes me feel something is missing. If I can get past that I will pick up a Performance model and sell the 328i - which I still enjoy driving.

It's warrantied to retain at least 70% capacity for 8 years or 100k/120k miles.

this x1000! Don't fall for this FSD for 5K bullshit they are pushing if you consider buying a model 3! i know they've bundled "Summon", autopark and nav on autopilot with this package to push it further but imo those don't justify the cost at all.

This is a scam, pure and simple, you pay upfront for a product that cannot be guaranteed to come out, and even if it does, it may not be even legal to use depending on legislation.

i don't get why people are so fixated on this "you-have-to-swap-your-battery-in-6-years" thing, that's a Leaf specialty. hasn't the abundance of Model S data over the past years already proved it's a non-issue?

tesla's battery packs are different from those on Nissan Leafs. there's active thermal management built into those packs to keep them healthy.

It is true that battery will last a long time, but after a given number of "charge/discharge" cycles, the capacity will be reduced.

My point is that if you keep the car longer than 8 years or drive it more than 100k/120k miles, and you end up having to replace the battery, it will be expensive to do so.

Don't forget that all of the manufacturers don't actually let you get to a true 10% of a full charge. They're all leaving a lot of protection, likely around 20% being "empty." Witness Tesla's OTA boost for folks leaving hurricanes or wildfires.

I'm in the same boat with regards to the stripper model 3. While 35K seems like a good price, I'd want the extended range and auto-drive to make it really attractive. That bumps the price up there quite a bit, and honestly, not worth it to me.

Longest range battery gives 325 miles might make the most sense as far as usability after the battery starts degrading.

My buddy has the performance model 3. It has some cool features since it's interactive with your phone and the large in car display. However when he began talking about having to wait to charge it and "kill time by reading or something" while his car charges I lost interest.

He also told me how he can plug in at work with a standard extension cord. This charges his car up about 30miles which is his commute to work. While this is nice his commute is essentially free his work doesn't necessarily approve him doing that and I can't believe it doesn't charge more in that amount of time. So he says once a week on usually Friday he has to go to a rapid charger for hours so his car is charged up to enjoy for the weekend....

Ya I will continue to just put some gas in my car that takes less than 2 minutes and keep going on with my life instead of waisting time.

We're lucky enough to have a couple charging stations at our office. So if I ever did get an EV, I could probably fully charge it while sitting at work for free. Our CTO has a Model S that he loves, but he's always commenting on how much he likes my M2, I think he has a bit of buyers remorse

Can he plug it at home with a standard outlet? I'm thinking if it can charge overnight in about 15 hours it would work for me as I have a short commute and don't need to charge all the way.

rated charge times for the model 3 are like 8-12 hours on a 220v circuit.

it would take 60-80 hours on a 110v plug.
