Who pissed off Mother Nature?

She sure has her panties in a wad. Holy Hail Batman. I woke up to the roof being pummeled with hail, sounded like it was the size of baseballs. I thought for sure I'd have all kinds of little dents on the car this morning.

I got two tornado alerts on my phone which I didn't see until this morning. I thought they were amber alerts so I just rolled over and paid no mind. Both said seek shelter immediately. I don't even think I have a safe haven in my house for tornadoes. I have no basement, and no first floor bathtub.

I hope everyone in the middle of the country is safe.

I just came back from the southern hemisphere where it is coming into winter there. I've been dealing with temps in the low 40's at night for the last couple of weeks, so stepping off the plane home yesterday was a helluva shock.
Hope you had a good trip. I was wondering why you were so quiet. Welcome home.

My understanding is that some tool has been demanding way too much of the grapes in the Caymus Vineyard for the related vines and earth to handle...so they are lashing back in their own way.

Just my understanding. Not saying it is a fact. Might meet the hurdle to be considered an alternative fact though.

You're a funny man. Just so happens the self that holds the Caymus was empty last night

Coincidentally enough, the wine rack that I have was also devoid of Caymus last night as well.

Let's agree to overlook the fact that I think said rack has only once held a bottle of Caymus in the last 9 years. Not because I don't like the wine...my wallet is the bottleneck here between Caymus Vineyards and my gullet. Stupid wallet. I should get a new one.

I've been working on this project for the last ~2.5 weeks, we've already had 8 days of rain out

We also got a nice tornado that flooded a few suburbs near me on Monday so that was pretty nice too I guess

A $3 bottle here isn't even fit for human consumption. I'm not a wine snob. I like some $20 bottles and $100 bottles. But just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's good. I think it was Silver Oak that I tried on a friends recommendation and I hated it. J Lohr Cab used to be my reasonably priced go to and I enjoyed it. They went down hill after 2013. The 2016 is terrible. The Caymus is by far my favorite, regardless of the year. I was a big Cake Bread fan but their recent years are also terrible.

Does he reside in Nigeria? Because your post leads me to believe that is the case.

Yes and once the money you sent does not solve the problem you will to need to send more until it does.

All the crazy weather in the Central Valley of Cali is disrupting my future plans for escape to the mountain cabin. A big tree fell in December, wiping out the front deck. Also knocked the propane tank into the mud.
Dad and I took a little drive up to see the status of repairs. Contractor complained that although there was a plumb line and holes for the new footers dug, there had been 4" snow 3 days before, and it rained 9 out of the previous 10 days. He was just getting the propane tank back onto the new pad, so that he could warm up the place to begin work on repairing ceilings/painting, as well as new flooring. He was going to leave the outside for drier days to come.

It sucks....I'm almost right in the NC mountains, and the heat has been crazy. Typically we get a storm in the afternoons to cool things off, but that hasn't even happened lately.

From time to time, I also act as the (nominated by no one and despised by most) forum's "Public Advisory" announcer. I feel the above leads me to issue the following PAA:

The rating of "very good stuff" is coming from a former submariner.

Now I'm not saying they survived on MRE's, but the member above has made several comments about Marines eating crayons with what seemed like a degree of envy / jealousy that their diet was better than his.

After having shaken off the seamen, he's become a very respected member of society (since he is what I am, I'm willing to give much in the way of accolades here), but I fear his past still colours his outlook on food and wine...

Your people put gravy on french fries. You can have no further comment.

Quality cheese might get you a pass, but the curds you dump on the frites up there is just nasty.

Also, you drink moose urine (Canadian Beer). Barf. Sierra Nevada for the win.
