I've just watched the vid KRS and the destroyed EV vehicle was a Motability one which carries incapacitated people, as the guy says at the end it's unbelievable that ''Motability is incentivising EV's for these people'' who could have trouble escaping the EV should it catch fire.

This stop oil comrade is the mirror image of climate change denial fanatics, only on the other side of the spectrum. They posses the same gaps of logic and preconceived bias. They are hurting their own cause as they lose credibility resorting to these disruptive tactics rather than constructive dialogue.

However, regardless on which side of the ideological spectrum one's opinion lies on, what these two videos primarily show is the contrast between:

1. A media outlet interviewing one of the better examples of someone who share the same ideology: an educated and experienced speaker. Together they work in tandem to promote their shared ideology.
2. A media outlet confronting one of the worst examples of the opposing ideology: an irrational fanatic. By disingenuously presenting the fanatic as a representative of an entire ideology, the media outlet is actively trying to weaken the opposing ideology while strengthening their own.

One can observe similar scenarios with the roles reversed, where a media outlet friendly to climate change emergency advocates will cultivate constructive discussions with those they share ideologies with, and confrontation with those it does not.

This is one of the reasons we should not give liberal nor conservative slanted media outlets the time of day. They are both too self-serving.

To answer the question in the tile of this thread, yes, these days I would want an EV. Mainly for short city trips that I hate starting my cars for. My mechanical sympathy is so high that it hurts me to repeatedly cold start x times a day just to run errands. If I need to, then I tend to drive the long way to get the engine up to temp for that reason.

A 500e, MINI SE, ID3, anything that's reasonably small. Zippy, all the torque down low, no maintenance, silence.

Thankfully, I've got access to great public transport so I commute by train and don't need to use the car for work or top-up shops.

Having said that, I've put enough miles on all the current 7 Series/i7 variants to have kind of fallen in love with the BEV luxo barge experience. It's really something else to be able to travel in something that is so quiet. The BEV powertrain suits the car a lot. The i4 GC is also a very usable EV daily; they've done a great job with that car.

However, the G70 BEV is on the upper spectrum of BEVs that are somewhat meaningful. It is colossal and very much overweight at 6,200 lbs.

The world definitely is definitely not benefitting from these oversized, overweight BMW limousines, let alone electric Hummer pick up trucks that take up three parking spaces and weigh as much as the Pentagon.

Such new creations, though, very accurately depict the idiocy of the current world in which airlines are flying thousands of empty ghost flights yet citizens are being greenwashed.
