So no more double rings/halos, instead adopting something close to what the i3 and i8 had? Seriously BMW? Now I'm getting a bit upset...

That's a series 1 gran coupé... or rather it's how it should have been called. This 4 doors gran coupe is not built on the upcoming 2 series platform but on the 1 series.

You know what's also disappearing? RWD compact cars. So I think losing the halo rings but clinging onto RWD (and probably also 6MT for the upcoming M2) looks like a fair deal to me. Of course, if the whole thing looks hideous, that's another problem, we'll see about that.

"And so when you arrive, what was it you wanted to change? DD: Being more brave with all the icons [BMW's traditional design details] we have. I mean you can see it now in the products, that we play with all the icons. The Hoffmeister [the forward swoop or 'kink' at the base of the window on the rearmost pillar of BMWs], for example — until the G30 every 3 Series had almost the same window graphic. That meant that when you saw prototypes — when you saw a new BMW, it could be the previous model if you just looked at the top of the car. This was something I never understood. In all these discussions about our icons, people say, 'But you can't change the Hoffmeister, you can't change the kidneys.' But who says so? Mr. Hoffmeister just made one window graphic." The only link I could find but in other videos/articles as well he has spoken about changing historical elements and has talked about the Hoff kink being an insignificant detail elsewhere.

The grille camo is freaking me out! Can one suffer from front-end ptsd? I don't even want to know what's beneath...

I'm jus stoked the belt line and hood lines are finally starting to line up with each other again like the past days...
At this rate, the next, next gen (late 2020's early 2030's) they should be back to being around the same height like e30-e46🙏🏾 I'm wondering how they're doing it though? Maybe shoving the engine further down to get some precious millimeters...? |

There is a loooooot of thick camo on the front end. Look how far back the lower grille is.

I think it will look good , i can imagine the G87 M2 with those wide box style flare fenders ! As for the size , it might be a little bit bigger , but not much !

This part^^^ there's so many damn fake body panels on. The proportions are really the only thing we can gather from these right now...and that barely at that. |
