Best Monitor under $400?

Hi All,

I am looking for a decent 24 to 27 inch monitor under $400. Wanted to ask you guys for some help! It'll be used for casual gaming, photo editing and working.

Go to newegg, input what you're looking for in search, sort by best rated, decide what you want from there. There are a zillion good monitors out there in the specs you're asking for. That's how I shop for my stuff.

...since you're in Palo Alto, just go to Fry's and compare.

Edit: If you're looking for a specific brand or model, I would buy either a Samsung or LG. You can always write down the model numbers and look for reviews online.

i have an LED samsung... i got it at craigslist for $380 cost about 700+ if you get lucky...

Is there a big difference between LCD and LED monitors?

I have a 24" Samsung LED and absolutely love it.

IPS Panels only. seriously.. they are the premium LCD tech, once you see the difference you will never want a normal LCD. LED is only for longevity and thinness. Panel quality is the most important if you're willing to spend top dollar. This will be all of 300-400 for the sizes you want.. or you can wait for a sale on them. I got one off slickdeals for like 250 for a 23" Dell and I refuse to use a normal TN now. They blow away normal TN panels and dont worry about the refresh rates, its overblown, I normally play some Battlefield 2 on mine and it never ghosts.

Btw IPS panels are the same as the Apple screens, its why they look so sharp and nice. They are mostly sought after by graphic designers and such for their color accuracy and viewing angles. They handle darks much better too. For example a couple wallpapers I have are full of dark/shadowy areas and before on my TN I didnt see anything in those areas, now all of sudden you can see subtle details.

^^^ This. Get a 24" Dell Ultrasharp..I think it's over 400 but it comes on sale at around 350 every now and then.

holy crap they have 27" for under $400 now? paid $1000 for mine. And yes once you get an IPS you can't go back
