Can someone confirm if the i4 also has expression mode as wallpaper just like the ix? Will i4 support augmented reality and how to use the hotspot in Holland?

Do any of you know if/ when BMW will add the possibility to view Netflix or Disney+ or for that matter any other streaming service? Would have been nice to be able to use that during charging

This is awesome, sent BMW an email requesting this exact feature a long time ago. I doubt i had anything to do with it, but awesome to see nonetheless.

Hopefully the guys at bimmercode can figure out the coding data so users can make the usual setting changes.Apparently it might not be possible bacause i read that idrive 8 requires signing for coding from the bmw servers. It would really suck if we are no longer able to make any coding changes on a BMW.

Expression mode?
I think I'm getting too old and grumpy for this stuff!

Shame that can't do something similar with iD7. Seems like this will soon be forgotten.

The smudges will drive me nuts, but that's why I keep a microfiber cloth in my door sill.

iDrive 8 is a cluster ****.

Big step down from 7.

Way over thought. So many simple functions/features/settings are buried and hard to find. Having to be logged into your profile for certain features to be fully functional is a PITA. On top of that, it's LAGGY.

We went backwards with this one, BMW.

How do you survive? Does it have Bluetooth?

You would be lucky if it had an AM radio operating on vacuum tubes.

I work at a BMW dealer…so I've spent a bit of time in iD8 cars. Spoke with regional trainer who's had an iX for months who feels the same.

Far from phenomenal at this point of it's lifespan. I'm hoping software updates fix some of these issues.

Can anyone check if iDrive8 has a "detour" option during navigation? I never found that in my iDrive7, only the option to block a specific area, not just a part of the current route.

By detour option meaning you encounter a temproray blocked street for example or a closed highway due to an accident that is not in the BMW traffic information. In iDrive6 you had the option during navigation to say: reroute for the next x kilometer/miles and it would find a way around the next section.

It's highly unlikely that any of these would carry over to ID7. BMW is not in the habit of adding significant new functionality to older head units.

No complaints here. Phone still gets hot but BMW added active ventilation to the charge pad. IMHO the charging performance in the IX is better than what it was in my F15 X5.

This has been shown in the i7 demo videos but unsure if they will roll it out to all ID8 models. Would be good though. In the meantime it is possible to unlock USB video playback in iDrive

It's down to a) the data files being trimmed of all "nice" descriptions requiring them to be mapped and b) the requisite data files no longer being available offline. So far only 4 modules have data available offline.
