Cruise ship vacation. I went on a Greek Island cruise in 2009. It turned out to be both of my cruises, first and last. I found the time in the ports much too short and then I was bored on the ship in the evenings. It really didn't fit my travel style. I know some people really like cruises and that's great, it's just not for me.

My wife is 110% anti cruise. She has never been on one but thinks its a floating disease city. There is nothing in the world I could do to convince her to try one. I have been on 3 and take it or leave it. My best friend loves cruises so I wouldnt mind going with his wife and him but looks like Ill be solo if so

Garage List
Skiing - Absolutely hated that experience and don't understand why people do it
Vacations with small children - they ruin everything
Pumpkin patches/farms around Halloween - overcrowded and kind of boring
Holiday Lights shows - The lights themselves are cool, but it's always bitter cold and miserable and over-crowded
The Zoo - Walking around staring at animals equally as bored as I am *yawn*

Do some of these belong in the unpopular opinions thread?

Key West/the keys. So many people raved about how great it was. I’ve been 3 times (moved along the keys) and just don’t love it. Don’t ever have to go back again.

Dont tell me that. The Keys are on my bucket list. I have this grand vision of driving top down across the keys to the end and it being this magical life changing drive.

Similar thing happened to me. Except I was a small kid. Family took me on some cruise. Got horrible motion sickness so they popped some pills or something in me that just turned me into a zombie. I have horrible memory, but I remember this. I remember being sooooo sleepy and my parents dragging me places.

Anyways I will never go in a cruise. People try to convince me all the time. Ohhh you don't feel anything in those big ships. Fuck off with your lies!

I'll add Disney in general. Living in FL most of my life I have been to Disney a lot. It's a horrible place (I'm talking about the actual parks). Unfortunately it seems every decade or so I forget how horrific it is and end up at Disney again just to be smacked in the face by the horror that is Disney.

I mean it's just pay a shit ton of money to wait in lines. That's it. That's all you do all day is wait in lines and give them more $$$. I'll never understand the appeal

Man... this is so true... it's honestly like the theme park was made not have you visit... the moment tickets were oversold and the fast passes were added things went WAY to shit. The last time I remember being to Disney where it was enjoyable was circa 2002-2003.

This is not going to be popular but...

I think Spain is kind of overblown. My trip to Spain was quite unpleasant around 10 years ago. The country itself was beautiful but the following rang true -

1) Madrid was way overpriced just about anywhere...

2) Barcelona - almost got robbed... twice. Train station closed and cops literally kicked everyone out waiting for a 6 AM train.

3) The country was by far the least friendly place I've been to... and that's comparing to even France. Literally no one was helpful and virtually no one wanted to speak English even tho it seemed people knew it.

4) the airports and in general any customer service was a shit show... I also went to Ibiza for a few days and it was borderline 3rd world country level of service. ATMs not working at the airport, credit card systems down, payphones not working and of course no way to make a call from someone's phone.

I probably would go back again because the countryside is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen but my experience in Italy and Portugal was the direct opposite...

Interesting. Spain is the only country in Europe I have been to and I loved it. Now we do speak spanish so that's a bonus. I did not care for Madrid much either, but then I don't care for most big cities. However we only stayed there a couple of days then rented a car and drove south spending a couple of days in different areas like Cordoba, Seville, Granada (probably my favorite). We loved everything outside of Madrid. Service at restaurants was hit or miss, definitely better in the US, but sometimes at smaller places where the owners were the ones doing everything we had fantastic service. Again, only place I have been so I can't compare to other European countries.

We actual want to go back and explore the northern parts this time.

Same here. Wife and I recently stopped there on the way back from San Diego and that place is a hot mess. We stayed for two hours because we couldn't take it. We are more of outdoorsy types so that kind of chaos isn't for us. Felt like one gigantic tourist trap, which it is.

I think you are right... I need to visit the countryside and smaller towns that are scattered... I heard Toledo is really cool.

This resonates w me as I'm still a 'cruise virgin' and dunno if I should do it eventually or just stay uninitiated, many questions like what should be the time for port calls and time on the ship, where to spend time, etc. Any more opinions?

The US Army gave me an all-expenses-paid trip to Vietnam in 1969, leaving me there for 12 months. It even included a free jet ride home.

I probably won't do that again.

Garage List
- Speeding in Utah: officer thought I was kidnapping my girlfriend
- Skiing: tried it once back in 5th grade, hated it plain and simple
- Roommates: Had one or more every year in college, and I promised myself I would NEVER have roommates once I graduated (and so far I am very proud to have kept my word)
- Flying with Lufthansa: The few times I had no choice in which airline i fly with, was pretty terrible. A close second would be United

1. Wearing flip-flops/thongs. Those can fuck off; I'll go barefoot if needs be.
2. Playing a musical instrument. Nope, not for me.
3. Marijuana. Why would I do that again? Shit just turned me into (even more of) a moron then made me hungry - two things I could do without.
4. Cigarettes. They smell and make me cough; wonderful!
5. University. Made great friends, got involved in a fun industry...but surely there's a more constructive way to spend all that money and waste all those brain cells??
6. Running my own business. Far too much stress!
