SQUISH!

Damned if I didn't hit a grown possum on the freeway coming home this morning. I'm sure it wasn't alive, it came up in my headlights pretty sudden and I didn't see movement before I struck it, but I'm pretty sure I squished his guts out and finished it off. A loud "THUMP!", hope I didn't suffer any damage. Glad it wasn't a skunk though, ungh, I'd have died of the stench.

Raise your hand if you committed "rodenticide"!

If it wasn't alive and didn't move before you hit it, you were driving beyond your abilities.
Next time, it may be a big rock, exhaust pot, child or something else you don't see.

Fuck a rodenticide. A raccoon ran out in front of my car on the freeway. I swerved to miss it but it still hit the left side of my bumper. The next day my car was in the shop with $4.5k worth of damage.

I hit a raccoon with my Saab 9000 CD Turbo back in the day and it caused over $3k in damage. Broke through my intercooler and transmission cooler.

Disagree, the darn thing was as grey as the road. Still sucks though, it took out my right fog. Hopefully I can repair that tomorrow.

Hit a Kangaroo barely out of puberty. It flew spun several times in mid air into the woods.

Caused a basketball size dent on my bonnet, front left fender, some paint on my front left door.

That bugger came out of nowhere.

I hit a turtle once in my low ass 328i and that scared the crap out of me, I thought for sure I would have destroyed something but other than a scuff on the bumper everything was fine. Well, on the car at least. I'm sure the turtle probably felt differently about the situation.

They're like deer in the US. When I lived in AU a while ago, I remember my mom almost hitting a few of those.

Almost 2 years ago I hit a dog with my truck. Caused $1200 in damage, got an offroad bumper with it instead.

My sister had a family of possums living under her house. When her husband caught all 8 of them in a trap he executed one of the kids with a pellet gun. I felt so bad about it I made him take it out to the woods and released it. RIP little possum.

Yes point blank with a pellet rifle. If he was home alone I bet he would've executed them one by one.

I would think that deers are more responsive to threats both sound and visual.

When we flew to Adelaide for a live fire exercise, we took a minibus from the range back to accommodations at night and encountered hundreds of kangaroo.

For some strange reason they wouldn't respond at all to high beams and horns. Our driver deliberately drove up to an inch away from them and stopped and they still would not budge.

I can see why the kangaroo meat is readily for sale in supermarkets.

Ran over a turtle with my truck (the actual tire ran over it and crushed it). Hardly felt it.

Went for a business trip to Kauai. On the first day coming home (in a rental) we hit a chicken. Each night after that it was a contest to see who could skid on "chicken skiddle" the best.
