4K TV's

Been thinking of replacing my Samsung 65" led TV. Could any of your provide some onsite on good deals on Brands Models and curved or not curved?

I've done a little research and looks like LG (non curved) has best picture.

MicroCenter always has the best deals and service IMO. I have a Samsung 4k LED Smart and feel like it had the best picture and features when I was looking. Paired it with a 300 watt LG sound bar and now it's like being at the movies. Will say 4k is kinda pointless right now but I bought it in preparation for the future since I keep things till they die.

I have a 65" LG 4K TV that I purchased last summer - the TV itself is great, but very little content is really in 4K. I stream Youtube and Amazon prime shows in 4K (Grand Tour is available in 4K), but I don't honestly notice a ton of difference in quality from 1080P when watching normal shows. If you stream some of the photography style timelapse videos on youtube, then you can see that sharpness increase; however, on regular shows you have to get pretty close to the screen to see the pixel difference. Netflix has a 4K subscription option, but we haven't bothered to bump to the higher account until content increases.

I picked mine up as an open-box/display model from Best Buy - works like a champ and saved us a fair amount of cash in the process.

Curved is a pure gimmick. Just like 4K itself, most the the picture enhancing features in the newest high end LED TV's is content dependent. OLED or stay home and save your money.

Curved is a gimmick, and dying out quickly. Be sure you get an HDR equipped set. I think that will have a bigger impact on picture quality going forward than 4k, especially on screens smaller than ~60".
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016...-get-a-new-tv/

If you can afford OLED, go that route. If not, find the best price on a 4k HDR you can and be happy.

You can have mine, I use it to dry sheets. The curb is epic for hanging them up, so I highly recommend the feature.

I swear to coffee that thing is the last time hubby goes shopping without me.

I saw recently pretty much everything about TV's ...
And I can tell that I will stick with my Pioneer-Kuro TV screen in combination with my Bowers & Wilkins 5.1 speaker setup .
With a Blue-ray this combination is really hard to beat, and I saw nothing better on the market !

I have a new Sony 4K with HDR. Paired with Sonos Sound Bar, Sub and Surround speakers. I predominantly watch a lot of Netflix and Amazon Prime in 4K. The picture quality is great.

I have a new Samsung led smart tv - 65" and it's great and good quality picture, but I gotta tell you, the new top of the line Sony's have some gorgeous pictures...

Smart tv's annoy me because they are not smart at all...

I will recommend Vizio because they have amazing customer service. I was randomly at Best Buy shopping for something NOT a TV, when i came across a 65" 4K in their open box area. I already had a 65", but not a 4K and after my superior haggling skills, managed to get the TV for $499 (retail $1000). I got it home, and the picture would come on, and then go off. Immediately i was mad because i knew at that point, all i was going to get was my money back, and lose the great deal.. BUT.. I called Vizio about the issue, and within 4 days, they had a truck at my door, along with 2 guys that were there to remove my broken TV and replace it with a brand new one! Imagine my level of happiness

I have three friends who have Vizio ranging in all sorts of gigantic sizes... While your second experience may be better, all three of them have or had issues similar to your first...

Electronics, bedsheets and mail order brides are definitely in the - "you get what you pay for" category...

Unless you need a new TV i would hold off, there just is not the content to justify the spend IMHO.

Are you Me? I could have written this word for word.

I love my Sony 4K and I love my Sonos system. I went in for a Samsung and after looking at the pictures side by side walked out with the Sony. I avoided Sony for years, since I had bad luck just out of warranty with every Sony product I bought in the '90s.

I bought a 65" and 50" Samsung 4K HDR TV (6300 series) from Dell last summer. Net cost after promo codes, gift cards, and before tax was around $650. You should try harder with your superior haggling skills! =)

All pun aside. OP, spend some time on slickdeals.net, and use rtings.com to look up TV set reviews. The best TV really depends on what you're expecting to get overall (price, picture quality, value, size, name brand, and etc).

One of the better valued TVs right now is the Hisense H8 series, which has 4K 10-bit HDR capability, unlike most HDR TVs that only come with 8-bit panels.

See link for an example: https://slickdeals.net/f/9775531-his...12am-to-public

Here's another pretty solid deal on an LG 75" 4K set if you're looking to go bigger: https://slickdeals.net/f/9830303-75-...-free-shipping

Best of luck with the search, and remember that technology is ever changing, and newer models are being pushed out every year. You'll be sure to find a great deal on a nice TV if you wait long enough.

I just got a 4K 65inch Samsung ks8000, which is a well regarded model for the price. Everything about the tv is great, but if I wasn't able to get employee discount pricing from a hookup, I would of went Sony. The Samsung isn't as good at handling movement. Lg would be another great option, oled of not.

If you really want to get straight honest answers on what a good TV is, go here:

www.avsforum.com

You have people who are extremely anal about picture quality to the person who just wants features and the thing to turn on. But if you want to get a sense of getting the best picture for any given price point, they're the go to place for it. Tons of "videophiles" there along with industry experts contributing.

Yup, it took a little bit of work with my mediocre bargaining skills . But basically, I made a deal to buy some person's unused Dell Gift Card for 25% less than face value, applied the Dell promotional discounts for TVs, and received $850 in additional Dell Rewards/Promotional gift cards. I then purchased two 1 TB Xbox One S systems using the promotional gift cards, which was newly released at that time, and flipped them on Craigslist for $20 less than retail price + no tax.

The deal was nothing special. Dell usually does a TV sale like this at least once a year to clear out inventory. Below are the deal links for reference:

I am ALL about "HOME THEATER and HOME ENTERTAINMENT"!

I am frequently on various Audio/Video forums and blogs. And I am ALWAYS looking at new technology! That being said, I am still NOT motivated to make this purchase (upgrade from my 80" 1080p) for several reasons: The content is NOT there and won't be for some time to come. Do the research. Streaming so called 4k content is still being compressed. Finally, without HDR - High Dynamic Range included in the TV, you aren't truly upgrading.
When we move into our new house within a year or so, I will evaluate the content availability at that time and see if it is worth my investment.
For now, if anyone wants or needs to upgrade, I'd cap it out @ $2k and go for the biggest and thinnest screen you can find!
