That's odd. Years ago I used to work for a German Chemical company that had headquarters in Adrian. I used to come through Detroit once a month.

Always hated the flight as it was typically the "red-eye" on Delta coming through the oldest section of the airport. They always lost my luggage if I had any. I remember seeing my first Ford GT on the road up there.

Years later.....I started having to go to LA near Newport Beach regularly......and I remember seeing almost every super-car available randomly driving around.

Biggest caliber thing I've seen in this area have been Audi R8's, Aston Martin's, and 1-2 each of a Ferrari and Lamborghini.

I admire you guys that live in areas that get to see more of the higher end stuff. Everything around here is mostly Restoration stuff...and the Resto-mod market is quite big.

I get why some people think silver is boring but sometimes you just want a timeless, somewhat subtle color. But it really comes down to the tint of silver...some silvers look like crap while others look quite special to the right eye. Plus some people don't want in-your-face colors.

On a car with lots of lines, details, accents, etc. I don't think there's any color that shows off the architecture better than a high quality silver. On a car without many edges or details I do think silver can be a bit dull.

My biggest problem is actually that too many of the manufactures now include pretty lackluster colors as stock options and unless you're willing to go Individual, PTS, etc. the palette is a bit

Well said. I really agree with your point about the lines of the car. Up until their latest one my folks always had X5s in silver. There was something just beautiful about how it looked in the right lighting especially after a wash. This purple hue would develop under the evening sky.

I remember seeing a commercial for the new Boxster a few years ago and it was silver with red interior. Just a beautiful combination. If I weren't dead set on getting a sports car in a "loud" color that would be my choice.

I believe silver has dropped a bit in popularity while white has taken risen in popularity.

Yeah...I'm guilty of owning way too many silver and black cars in my history. My current weekend car (Corvette) is silver metallic with the top and "halo' painted black. I think it looks okay, but lighting really makes a difference when you can see the "flake" in the paint.

When I needed another "daily", I went white as I had never had one. But I'm a boring person...never been much into loud colors.

True!

It's bad enough driving my weekend car and being scrutanized. My brother is a cop, and I told him there are BMW's and Audi's that look like family sedans with as much power as my corvette.....but they don't get profiled.

Large black SUV's - usually older Moms who are in a rush to take their snotty kids somewhere and are speeding down residential roads paying no attention to anything or anyone else on the road.

I’m in South Florida and can confirm that no one can drive down here!!! The worst offenders are large suv’s, trucks and minivans. These drivers are always distracted. The boy racers are pretty bad too.

I usually look at the wheels and how functional they are and judge them based on that:

Lots of power with skinny wheels/tires=joke.
Slammed with no suspension travel for traction=joke
SUV with huge rims and low-pro tires=joke
Fancy huge wheels with tiny disc or drum brakes=travesty

Silver is boring but classic. I've owned a few silver cars. They look great when freshly washed. The pics you posted look to be enhanced. Drive those cars around for a day or 2 and then shoot the pic. Lots of cars look good in pics.

Here's a pic straight from my phone. Hasn't been washed in weeks. No editing, and it's not a good pic, but even here I still think it's a great color. Silver can be boring as hell sometimes, and other times it can be absolutely perfect...really depends on the car and shade of silver.

Then again, beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

Flacht3 You have garage doors on both sides?

Silver looks great. Then again I don't think I have seen a bad color on a GT3 haha

If there's no rain, my silverstone M6 holds a wash for weeks at a time-hardly ever looks dirty 'cept for the brake dust on the wheels and on a cloudy day, the blue tint comes through nicely. It appears to be a different color.

I have to say, in all the pictures you've posted above, the only cars that make me question my view that silver is a boring color, are the Porsche's.

I think it's got a lot to do with the curves, but also, because I'd call the Porsche interpretation "gunmetal grey", not silver.

It's darker.

To each their own, but I just don't like "alpine white" or "[whatever] silver" - White cars look like you couldn't afford the extra for "metallic paint"; and most silver just look to me like "camry silver".

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no to that Lambo; but it'd look a lot better if it were blue or black.

... and for the record, the only cars that look good in "taxi yellow" are supercars. (Fararri, Lotus, Lambo's etc.)

(Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.)

Nope, just the one door. But then the back has sliding doors that open to my makeshift "lounge" area which is where the GT3 usually sleeps.

The pic below is what's the on the other side (so if you were standing where the GT3 is in the first pic and looking straight)

On this topic, i’ve recently noticed that Nissan has started to put the badge “SV” on the back of its cars across the model range. I don’t know what it stands for, but from my observations of how these cars are driven, i believe Nissan affixes this badge to identify which of their customers are douchebags. It’s a really helpful public service!

Is your man cave located in San Francisco?
If so, the space it occupies may be worth more than all the toys you have inside, combined.

Haha it definitely is. When shopping for a new house I prioritized garage and "mancave" pretty high on the list. Significant other didn't put up much of a fight since she knew she'd lose.

The previous owners converted that space to a children's play room and basically made it a faux bedroom (that door in the back left is a bathroom they added, taking up garage space. First thing I did was mostly convert it back to a garage space with some mancave touches...(kept the bathroom)
