Chime in if you have switched from a BMW to a Tesla

I’m looking to get my wife a new car soon, and I’m looking for some feedback from Tesla owners here.

As electric cars grow in popularity, I’m wondering how those who’ve switched from a BMW feel about their Tesla.

Thanks, DMAX

F80 to i3 to Model 3. I enjoy having the Model 3 as my daily driver. I have a MKVII GTI as my fun car. And I don't miss driving the F80 on the street at all.

I have both. BMW is fun for driving, but nothing beats a Tesla in traffic.

I think I’d get bored out of my mind if I didn’t have a manual transmission to play with in traffic.

But I’m kinda considering a Tesla that my gf could use and to make it more comfy for my parents.

We have a volt and bmw. Not the same, I get that, but I can tell you that while my car is way more fun, hers costs next to nothing to operate (tos charging at .02/kWh) so it becomes the weekend chore machine.

My x2 m35i is more comfortable on trips and gets 30mpg hwy so anything beyond the 50-60 mile range of the volt and we take it.

Can't really drive it hard on the street without quickly getting into the dangerously and illegal speed range. It is an awesome and fun car when I drove one at Thermal, but on the street, it was just too hard to push it. And it was difficult to carry on a conservation in the car when my kid and wife sat in the backseats due to the tire noise level on the freeway.

Really? Is sound deadening that bad on m3?

I cant imagine it would be any worse than an M2, and I have no issues with mine. I haven't really thought about it or noticed it was a problem

It could be the way the 405 and 5 freeways are paved here in So. Cal., but it is hard to carry a normal conversation in the F80 when traveling at 75mph+ on those freeways. The fake engine sound also didn't help, but I did code that off fairly early on. It's not a problem if the speed is lower or if I was on normal road surfaces.

Yeah, the corrugated roads there really make cars noisy. My M Coupe on PSS was nearly impossible to hear anyone in.

My uncle switched from a 640i gran coupe to a Model S a few years ago. Now he's on his second Model S, he raves about Teslas, he doesnt plan on driving anything besides Tesla for the rest of his life.

Two Teslas in now 😱. Other than fuel savings, what does he rant and rave about with the car. Before i bought my G12, i did check out Tesla Model S. either i had a bad salesman or the car they had in the showroom wasnt packaged with a nice interior. To me, felt cheap as i was coming from owning 3 7's prior. Wasnt too fond either that Tesla does not use leather in any of their cars. They use a synthetic vinyl material. But i feel im missing the " HYPE" about these cars. Some parents at my kids school have ModelX but they are not really "CAR GUYS", so they really arent so technical when it comes to information. Hoping to learn a bit about them from people like you guys on this forum who can possibly chime in on the cars overall. Hard to get info off youtube. Many videos come with heavy bias.

Thanks for everyones time. 💪
