Couple of new additions to my Home Office: Desk and Chair. For the Mrs and my kiddos when they want to be in here working along side Dad.
This is on the opposite side of the room...

I've been learning how to TIG weld and bought a couple of items that arrived yesterday. The first photo is of the TIG torch rest that has a magnetic base to hold it in place on my welding table.

The rest of the photos are of a TIG filler wire feeder. One of the hardest things to learn about TIG is the rhythm of adding the filler wire to the weld puddle. This device holds the filler wire for you and a slight movement of the thumb advances the wire. I will eventually learn how to feed the filler wire correctly without the feeder, but for now, it's one less thing to worry about while lay'n a bead.

I barely snagged one through our msft employee store. They went fast.

Man up and learn to feed that TIG rod the old fashioned way....

Just kidding, I totally suck at it and really struggle with filler rod feed control. My hands shake and I make a total mess out of it. Where'd you get the feeder assist gadget? I'm going to pick one up and try it. I already have the magnetic torch rest; it's awesome. You'll love it!

BTW, if you dont have a nomex TIG Finger yet, you may want to pick one up. Gimmicky and not needed by the pros I suspect, but for a novice like me who inevitably goes super slow it's pretty nice and deflecting all that heat.

Oh, and a good welding helmet auto-darkening insert makes all the difference. I was using a cheep-o Harbor Freight one and switched to a Miller. It was kinda how I imagine people feeling after they get Lasik or cataract surgery and can finally see clearly for the first time in years.

I got my TIG feeder from amazon...

I have a nice-ish auto hood from Lincoln Electric. I'll be buying the special edition of the ESAB Sentinel A50 tomorrow, though... I'm using a 2.0 cheater on the Lincoln and will order the one for the ESAB as well. It really helps me see without my prescription safety glasses on (they do not sit right on my face with the hood down and I cannot use the lower bi-focal part at all... so, I just wear regular safety glasses under my hood)

Jody at weldingtipsandtricks.com invented the TIG finger and the TIG finger XL. I have 2 of the regular ones and one XL one. I've seen lots of pros wear them while TIG welding. I bought them from his online store, weldmongerstore.com

I'm moving some money around a bit and if I can work it out, I will be replacing my Harbor Freight Titanium Unlimited 200 with the ESAB Rebel ESP 235ic multiprocess welder.

The ESAB rig does not come with a TIG torch in the package, so I'll be getting a CK Worldwide torch and the ESAB foot petal. The foot petal is discounted to $190 since I'm buying it with the welder.

Here is a link to a free TIG wire feeder from CK Worldwide. The owner of CK and Jody from weldingtipsandtricks.com teamed up and have made this simple gadget free. I got one and although it works, I like the other one better. I had already ordered the one from amazon when I registered for the free one. They all take some getting used to... Here is the video of them explaining it.

And, lastly, I saw this on IG and thought it was cool, so I bought it but it has not arrived yet. The video is of the one he made for me. I'll probably just put this one on a shelf in my office.

I sell loudspeakers; and DJ as a second job, so MoMA's new Jukebox Christmas cards were an obvious choice for this year.

It took a year, but I finally convinced my wife we needed a TV in the bedroom for our condo in Asheville. All I had to do was buy a piece of furniture that cost 2x as much as the TV to put the TV on.

Also saw this in a local store and decided I should have it. The cashier was a guy wearing a skirt. I thought about asking him to autograph it but figured that wasn’t such a great idea here in Asheville.

Did you drag the dresser home behind your car?

I hit up a few sales. Cold weather running gear and some smaller tools. Nice piece of 8/4 hard maple for face frames and my hang board I'm going to build.

Nope delivered. It is allegedly a very old antique from China so I'm sure I paid extra for the "distress" you see.

Antique Chinese rustic painted chest of drawers, Shanxi province, Qing Dynasty, c. 1880, original paint finish
