Because they look badass. Definitely has a "presence" when you see one in person. But I'm also not paying $200k for a Phantom coupe and there hasn't been a Brooklands coupe for sale in a long time so both are unlikely to happen any time soon. Definitely on my automotive bucket list even if I only get one for a short period of time. Having said that, every time I drive my FF I ask myself why I'd ever want to sell it for any other car, it's just an incredible machine. Nothing like a Ferrari V12 and I know I might get bored of a "lazy" luxury cruiser pretty quickly.

Lol I'll be honest, wasn't a fan of the spindle grill when they first released it but it grew on me and I think it's holding up quite well for a 10 year old design.

The pig nose Bimmer grill, however, looked bad in pictures and even worse in person.

I wouldn't say that the Predator grill looks good, but it's certainly better than BMW's pig nose / beaver teeth.

I missed the boat on an aircooled 911. I always wanted one, but I'm not about to pay current market value for one.

The other half bought an M2C last week, that will stick around for awhile. I have a deposit on 2023 Supra (6MT) at MSRP, that will probably stick around too.

After that, we're considering a classic of some sort to pick up in driver condition and work on over time. Her first car was a '67 Cougar... so maybe a first gen Cougar/Mustang... but still open to something else from that era, even if completely different.

I currently have a 100th Anniversary ND2 Miata that I thought would be the forever Miata, but I just didn't love it as much as the ND1 (heavier flywheel and the new engine isn't as fun on the street as the first NDs). That car will make room for the Supra 6MT. We've owned several NB generation Miatas, and we've been thinking of buying another but instead of building another track/time trial car out of it, turning it into a modern classic street car. Small, light, analog, add a K24 swap, modernize the interior a bit with nicer seats and audio, and build a "better" analog driver's car for little money.

LOL I had not figured out how to remove the back seat yet, was in the middle of trying a few seats to see what fits best. Got it nailed down now though.

Just need to remove T40 and T25 torx screws to free the seatbacks and center rod. Gives about 3" more legroom.

On paper, yes, issue is many folks have stripped the T40 and it causes a lot of pain.

Now that I ordered a '23 BRZ, it'd be nice to pay it off quickly and get something with a V8. It was just at the moment I wasn't willing to spend $55k+ on anything.

A small chunk of my income every year comes from stock bonuses and I'm not sure those are going to look great the next few years, so I kept it conservative on the car front this time.

I'm going to show this to my wife in an effort to convince her that I CAN have a 911.

She'll shut me down of course and tell me I'm an idiot... but if I chip away slowly... one day... once my kids are grown and moved out of the house....

Cards on the table. It is VERY, VERY tight. I am driving with knees almost hitting the steering wheel, mrs ok in the front but not "comfortable". A 991 would have a bit more space.

The seating arrangements are very child seat dependent, kids age is vital as it dictates your fate. Removing the back seat should yield 3 inches more space which may be vital.

Now in ontario, children cannot sit in the front seat until age 13 which adds a further complication even if you just take 2 kids out.

I have made it work but by no means easy or suitable to long drives.

I believe in the US (at least here in Illinois) a child can sit in the front seat if there are no rear seats, or if the rear seats aren't suitable. Of course my wife would never allow that, but it's an option.

Yes if no rear seats they can sit in the front but airbag must be disabled and on a 997 that means the dealer has to install a kit with a lock etc so $$$$$$
