That's what happens when cars are too rare for their own good.

BMW owners will never have to worry about this. 335i's are a dime a dozen.

Still feel bad for the guy though. Hopefully he gets something out of this, other than a lesson.

Given how rare they are to find in great condition now, it's actually a pretty fair price for a low mileage example in a rare color.

I would never even contemplate buying a used car, cross country, and off CL. Hell no.

1) he should've taken possession of the car on the spot and transported it himself
2) unless the stand fits in the trunk the transport companies typically just transports the car and nothing else
3) same goes for the wheels... would need to be shipped separately
4) if it's an open top transport and not a collector car specialty transport, the lowered car won't have enough clearance for the transport unless the oem suspension was installed (I had to install coil spacers on a lowered BMW I sold awhile back for it to get on the transport)

That being said... when it comes to matters like this I don't trust anyone else to handle it if there is no way for the other to take any accountability

The guy could have done more to prevent this from happening but shouldn't need to. Dishonesty is one of the worst qualities. I mean, what's it like knowing that nobody can trust you? I'm sure everyone that knows this guy knows not to trust him. What a way to live your life.

I sold one of my BMWs on CL. A young student drove a few hundred miles and paid cash. Everything went smooth.

I don't really buy used cars but if I did, I would do the same depending on the circumstances.

haha Just saw this:

"Active Cleanup Alert

This business recently made waves in the news, which often means that people come to this page to post their views on the news.

While we don’t take a stand one way or the other when it comes to these news events, we do work to remove both positive and negative posts that appear to be motivated more by the news coverage itself than the reviewer’s personal consumer experience with the business.

Yup popped up right when you go into their Yelp review. The guy is a fucking mongoloid moron, what the fuck did he think was going to happen. The car community will pretty much crucify him for this. His best option is to close up the garage and open up a bakery because as far as the automotive world is concerned, he's done.

Wow I guess it really did make it to all the forums.

The buyer is a personal friend of mine. Apparently the business had so many phone calls yesterday that they had to call the police.

The seller claimed to have "owned" Paragon Automotive in Monterey Park which is a lie, he's an employee there with the title of manager. ( formerly the location of the defunct VIS )

At this moment an attorney has been obtained in California and it seems the seller went from "you can't prove a thing" to "let's work it out and stop the haberdashery".

Too bad his name is tarnished already but seems like a resolution is in the works. Hopefully it works out.

I was once an S2000 owner, who sold the car and bought a E90 M3. ( bought it sight unseen from Glendale BMW btw ) and can say that these cars have slowly and surely appreciated over the years. 33K sure seems a lot but considering you would be hard pressed to find a low mileage rare interior and exterior combo. The pricing is pretty fair market value especially with the hard top.

(<---yes the same Stage1 from s2ki) Nice to see you over here.
I wish I had held my CR longer. I have had 3 s2ks in the past before moving to mostly BMWs. White was always a rarer color, and to find one relatively unmolested these days is tough. Although after everything that happened with Lon and this deal, who knows how the seller really treated the car. Nice to see everyone work together to weed people like Paragon out of this community.

I wonder for how much longer? The company would be stupid to keep him on payroll after this incident. His reputation will get associated with the business as long as he's there, maybe even for some after he's not.

It's unreal how dishonest some people are. But internet justice is ferocious. It'll cost him a lot more than just the parts he didn't include in the S2000.

Yeah this guy is royally fucked now thanks to internet visibility. Kind of makes you think if he's pulled this kind of shit before, or had he not been exploited, if he'd keep going.

Probably would.
