Saw “Rambo Last Blood” this evening - it was very entertaining.

Still not as good as Rambo I & II, but better than the last couple of releases.

As Astra: The first hour was very good, the last hour was kind of lame. Great special effects, but the story kind of petered out.

If you like lunar surface battles, I'm wondering whyHeinelens "the cat who walks through walls" hasn't been made into a movie. Much better material than the script provided for this movie.

Overall, Similar to gravity and interstellar, but not as good.

FINALLY saw John Wick 3. While I liked it overall and look forward to a 4th (which would hopefully be the final).....did anyone else think a lot of the hand/hand combat scenes were slowed down? I know dramatic pause is used (certainly in JW2) at times but it seems that Keanu was just moving slow for entire sequences.

Anyone seen Ad Asstra? I haven't but from what I've heard, it's like Apocalypse Now but in space. The beef is that it's too much of a carbon copy. I think most directors should learn by now that these kind of movies are very different to pull off. Most of the time, they all end up in a bunch of mumbo jumbo philosophical mess. The movie landscape has been littered with these kinds of movies. The most recent example was Interstellar. The most successful of these type of movie probably is Stanley Kubrick 2001, but the problem is there is only one Stanley Kubrick and of course Ad Asstra director is no Kubrick :-) And even then, 2001 wasn't that well received when it came out and only got appreciated eventually by the silicon valley generation.

Gravity and The Martian worked because those movies know to stay away from the so called let-me-teach-you-a-lesson pit(t) fall but just simply try to entertain. Although there is a bit of a lesson in Gravity but it is so well hidden and subtle that only those who cared would realized. That is the mark of a good movie. Even if you don't care, you get entertained anyway. If you care, you'll get something to chew on while driving home.

I did.....but I just think they sped the cameras up to show more technique.

I'm partial though as I've been in Aikido for close to 20 years, and there are a lot of Aikido techniques in the action scenes. But this was the first movie in the series where I seen what is basically the unbendable arm transition into the slap to the head.....but it was nice change up.

Most have been generic wrist locks that transition to throws. You can tell Reeves has had some training as he keeps some pretty tight circles while working.

Yeah it was one of my favorite travel-back-in-time movie. Too bad it's not true in real life. Oh well just another lie from Einstein we have to get used to :-)

Maybe I just need to watch it again. I get that some movies will speed scenes but my recollection is that 'the bad guys' were moving at an expected speed but Wick was slower.

It is always cool to see movies that use techniques you know. I almost never see Pancrase used in any movie. lol Muay Thai...some.

Keanu's dedication to training for his roles is admirable. Even more so that he is supposed a pretty down to earth person in real life, too.

True...maybe they were trying to keep it realistic as chronologically throughout the movies, he's taken some beat downs too.

But that's what I like....not everyone is "on their game" 100% of the time......if so, might as well portray them as a superhero.

Like you, I enjoy looking for people who've actually done their homework....especially if it's not something they are particularly known for!

We watched Anna last night. Highly recommended as it's a great blend of action, drama, and some humor at times.

It's one of those movies where you don't really get a chance to figure out what is going to happen.....it shows you the final situation and then back-tracks and shows how it got to that point.

This happens multiple times until finally tying everything together in the end.

All in all, it was a refreshing change of pace and kept us entertained throughout!

Team Foxcatcher.

Interesting but rather sad documentary about a wealthy guy's involvement in sport, particularly American wrestling. It does highlight how money can really influence things despite how bizarre things can get. The standoff after the shooting is quite surreal.

Avengers Endgame

Was ok, but just too much going on, and not in a good way, didn't feel like there was any stand out moments in the movie, despite it being 3hrs long
