Morning harvest with first batch of potatoes.
I'm keeping the green or not quite ripe tomatoes for my chow-chow. |

Lady Jane.
As a very knowledgeable and true lover of nature and Gardening, I have much respect of your skills at growing fruits & veggies! I love all of the stuff you grow. Unfortunately, my climate doesn't allow for it. So I'll have to stick with my Grass and Flowers. Last edited by TXSTYLE; 09-10-2023 at 08:17 PM.. |

I harvested the very last of my potatoes. With all the rain and the upcoming remnants of hurricane Lee, I didn't want them to rot. I only have a few green Romas on the vine but I have plans for those.

That's it, that's all. Nice day today to clear and clean the veggie boxes. I had a good growing season.
Kind of sad looking but they gave it their best and everything will be used. |

I found and righted 3 watermelon yesterday. Recently the vines went crazy, after struggling for a good 2 months to get beyond transplant size.
I planted so many types of chile this year, still not sure what is on the vine. Wife seems to recognize and tells me to only pick habaneros, seranos, and jalepenos. Ripped/replaced 3 tomatoes past weekend. Still should have plenty of time to get some fruit from them before growth stops. Strangest squash growth I have seen this year. I keep finding them SCHWING straight up from the vine

My pumpkin is now the size of a soccer ball and starting to turn orange. It might grow just to be big enough for a small jar of jelly.

A lot of work in the gardens this week-end. Clearing the Annuals and giving the Fall Perennials a lot of TLC. All my pots containing Petunias have been replaced by Mums.
I have a lot of Sedums (Hylotelephium telephium 'Herbstfreude' (‘Autumn Joy’), that are attracting bees along with the Asters (Aster Alpinus). My dwarf tri-colored Sumaks that I planted from sticks two Summers ago are taking over and I started to clear around them and expanding the bed. |

Now that the Summer is over, I'm turning my attention to cultivating annuals in the house.
Last year as I was putting my pots away, I noticed a small Coleus spud that had been protected from the frost by the main plant. I decided to transplant it and watched it grow over the winter. And it just took-off. I decided to do the same this year. The picture is of the offsprings of the original baby that are already doing quite well. |

My final Spinderella Hibiscus is going out with a splendor!
I've already cut most of it back to the ground. But she had to give me one more amazing display. @ 8in in Diameter! |
