Who will jump to 5 series after the e90?
Just curious...who will jump to a 5 series after the e90? I almost made the jump instead of the e90. But because I have 2 new cars right now(infinity fx35) and now the e90 I couldnt fork the $$$. But I am saving and planning for a future 5.

The 5 series is a very unattractive car......one that is made for older folks.........

Goin' the other way
I did ED on a 545/6sp last year and will definitely be going "downmarket" (said tongue in cheek) to the 330i or (hopefully) the 335i twin turbo or the M3 (if available by then) when my lease is up in the spring of '07.
While the 545 is an amazing vehicle with tons of power and torque; it's just a bit too much of an executive cruiser for me. I don't fee "old" enough to be driving it. The 3er is just more of a driver's car; and since it's grown a bit bigger (almost E39 5er sized now), it fits me like a glove. I'm not giving too much back in terms of trunk space over the 545, and the cockpit ergonomics are better in the 3 than in the 5. That, plus the fact that I like the aesthetics of the new 3 better than the 5 (and I think the 545 is a very handsome automobile) makes my decision pretty easy. -MrB |

I drove a 3, then drove a 5. Then I went back and bought a 3. The 5 was just too big. I consider myself a pretty good driver, and the CA let me back the 3 into the parking space when we got back since I do that in the driveway. When I drove the 5, I hit the curb with the back tire going around a normal street corner. CA didn't let me park that one

Nope, not me! Unless I find a way to get an M5 perhaps.....
I had the last shape 5 and to be honest always found it too big and a bit of a tank. The E90 has virtually the same interior space and is a lot more compact and chuckable to drive...

Could have made the jump now, but the 3 is a lot better. If the New 5 is as good as the current 3 maybe. But I think I will be a 3 drvier for a long time to come.

I had thought about getting the 5 after my lease is up... but after driving my e90 for a week, I am realizing that the 3er is a pretty large car itself... I could not justify the larger 5.

I was originally getting the 525, but end up getting the E90 instead. I think my next car will be the 525. Its just roomier on the back seat and I don't mind the size.

I don't see getting a car as big as a 5-series. I could have if I wanted to but I prefer the E90. I have a car about the same size as the 5-series now but I wanted a smaller car so I could fit into more parking spaces in San Francisco. I also prefer the nimbler handling that comes with a smaller car. I also like driving a stick and manual transmissions don't feel right to me in cars as big as the 5-series.

I was considering it at first, but the 545 is rather expensive, and I don't need that much room. I am thinking more of a 645 for my next car, which will hopefully be around 5-7 years from now.

I still can't make myself love the E60 like I did the E39 and I do the E46 and E90. Sorry, but it just doesn't do it for me, so I don't think it'll be up next. Tough to say what's next, really. Hopefully it'll be a Bimmer. Maybe an M3 next? Or maybe a 6?
