Relax, I wasn't digging on you. Sorry if it sounded that way.

On an unrelated note, why is it every time you quote someone it shows twice?

Not only did she live, she was well enough to be in court yesterday. It seems she only hurt her arm.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/mercedes-...213410823.html

This says she was doing 90 mph, and she has been involved in 13 previous crashes. 13.....

The reason she lived is that from the initial impact she had a 'soft' initial impact into the side of the older S type jag. If it was a head on then even her modern Merc and multi airbags wouldn't have saved her.

Saw on the news last night she had a history of bad driving and accidents.

Didn't see @cmyx6go's post above about her driving history. Oops!

To get a second-degree murder conviction, prosecutors must prove she acted with implied malice and knew the act of driving at a high speed on city streets was dangerous to human life.

Usually, such cases are brought if the driver is under the influence and has a prior DUI conviction and has taken DUI education classes. In Linton's case, investigators found she has a history of dangerous crashes and knew the threat posed by her driving behavior, prosecutors said.
This is interesting to me. Why would a DUI or history of DUI be a requisite for second degree murder charges in this instance? Who doesn't know that driving at 90mph on city streets is dangerous to human life? And if you don't, you shouldn't be driving in the first place.

I have no clue but I hate it.

It only happens when I quote from my phone.

Her lawyer wouldn't tell anyone if she were in the wheelchair for injuries sustained in the accident

So it must be proven in court that the defendant has either: 1) at least 2 functioning brain cells or 2) common sense? FFS....

I didn't read the article but did the driver have insurance? I would have to imagine that after 13 crashes she would be either uninsurable/uninsured or paying egregiously high insurance premiums.

Doing 90 in a 35 in the middle of the day and completely blowing through a light at an intersection with traffic crossing the intersection. WTF???? Like I previously said, that can’t just be distracted driving. Something isn’t right. I still think it was intentional and she was trying to kill herself.

Even though they didn’t disclose time frame, Who has 13 accidents?

Definitely a plausible theory. One thing I thought about too was she possibly fell asleep at the wheel and foot pressed forward on the gas pedal.

The article didn't say whether she caused the accidents, just involved. But if I was a betting man (and I sometimes am), I'd say she caused at least half. Either way, that's a shit ton of accidents. I've always thought it's way too easy to get and keep a driver's license.

Crazy huh? The dumbing down of society is real.

The article didn't mention whether or not she had insurance.

That part where she sits straight up on the stretcher right before she gets shoved into the ambulance was crazy.

LA is straight up GTA in real life. Doesn't matter which zip code of the city you're in, people are wildin' especially out on the roads.

It sort of bothers me when people use these kind of accidents to say that we need stricter speed limits or that it's because of speeding etc. This isn't "speeding". It's not even like some guy racing. It's either someone completely impaired or passed out with foot on the accelerator. Like the Ruggs crash, 99% of these are DUI.

I don't think so. It takes a lot of pressure on the pedal to do 95 mph. If she fell asleep or even had a medical emergency, you'd probably go limp with less pressure on the pedal, no?

Lots of speculation. I'm curious to see how this unfolds. So tragic.

Back when I worked hospital PM&R, I once asked the ER docs why they so often lacked BAC data on our patients - many of whom were telling us they were trashed at the time, but no records to support it (those BAC levels would be quite relevant to a trauma team). The answer I got was that if they are DUI, their insurance won't pay for the hospital treatment, so the hospital takes a sort of 'don't document, don't lose $$' approach - if the docs need the data, the anesthesiologists get an 'unofficial' number that doesn't go into the chart. Not sure this is still the case, but it made sense.

Not at the highest concentration, but booze will stay in your system up to 96 hours after your last drink.

True. You're probably right.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what her story or defense is.

Given the gender I'm biting my tongue real hard right now not to take the proffered low hanging fruit, so all I'll say is I hope she's in prison for the rest of her life.
