Remember Nolan didn't have superhumans in his universe. It was more realistic vs Snyder.

IMO once you add aliens, super humans, etc, to the big screen it's hard to keep Bats relevant.

It's why the "Saving Martha" scene was so awesome. It was BM vs normal bad guys.

I think the movie looks awesome and I can't wait. Robert Pattinson is a good actor. Ridiculous people bring up Twilight, it was over 10 years ago.
Nope. You are not. He is a damn good actor!

The cinema is so good here that it doesn't matter who they cast.

The millennial version of Batman...will he cry when the Bat Signal turns on and the check engine light is on in the Bat Mobile?

Naw, He'll buy $3k worth of mods, install them, and then come back asking if he really needs a TQ wrench to install spark plugs because he just changed his and is having a misfire.

Screw some of you guys, Pattison's a good actor, even in Twilight (my guilty pleasure).😀

He can do dark, like in that latest Johnny Depp movie (AWFUL film, but his role was good).

I dunno about the endless reboots though, did everyone lose their brains in Hollywood or are just lazy?

It's not that. There is good and then there is better. Take for example: Jake Gyllenhaal (tied up with Spider Man), Ben Barnes, Michael B. Jordan, Manu Bennett... I could go on. The role needs someone who could be a suave Bruce Wayne... someone with finesse who can do the role justice. May be even someone who has played a 'warrior' in another movie.

I will watch it as I have seen all the Batman movies but to me it's like how the poor choice of Jafar ruined Aladdin. Will Smith made an excellent genie. Hopefully he can pull this one off.

This thread will be divided in two camps. Those who think he has what it takes and those like me who would have thought of an alternative for the role.

BM went through re-boot hell back in the 1990's. While the franchise took an 8 yr hiatus between 1997-2005 it was only because WB kept scuttling scripts before settling on Nolan.

The only knock on Pattison is his physical size.
Wayne is allegedly 6'2" and over 215lbs.

Both Jon Hamm (6'1") and Ben Affleck (6'4") have the mass to fill their frame. Pattison at 6'1"(allegedly) is very thin.

Interestingly Bale is only 5'11" but big "aka Fatman" at the beginning of filming.

I agree with your statements on actors and direction in general, but IMO it’s still on Affleck. At least a big part of it. To his credit, he seems to realize that he’s supposed to play Batman with quiet menace and be all dark and brooding, but he doesn’t pull it off. He just imitates Bale’s growly voice and sort of just gets from fight scene to fight scene very stiffly and even a little thuggishly. He’s a bit better as Wayne but not as suave as Bale was.

One thing I’ll say about Pattinson (his name is misspelled in the title btw) is that he’s probably got the ‘dark and brooding’ part down.

One thing I didn't like about Affleck was his suit. Ben was a huge guy and the muscle piece attached to the front of the suit made him look chubby. Never mind the the suit itself weighed 75lbs.

At times Ben's stuntman looked better than Ben himself.

btw...the bat voice of Bale and Affleck were both tweaked at editing.

Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon!

I really liked Ben Affleck as the character but after seeing this trailer, Patterson is looking damn good in the role!

Quick note. I read it's an adaptation of Hush. No originality here!

So, with all these critiques here about bad casting, tell us. Who would you replace with? Let's hear it.

Simple. Wes Bently, Michael C Hall (Dexter) or Josh Brolin

I was anticipating a continuation of Affleck as the jaded-batman but in a new original story rather than an adaptation of an existing (BvS had a lot of scenes pulled straight from Miller TDKR, and this new movie appears to be an adaptation of Hush).
