I think he's talking about the processors in the phone. Samsung use to make them but now they are going to use a Taiwanese company.

You know what else is made in Taiwan?

Foods and beverages contaminated with hazardous DEHP that have been recalled all over the world for the past few months. I have nothing against Taiwan, I love all their technology companies like Asus and HTC but I hope every Taiwanese food company responsible for adding those chemicals in food go out of business and their CEO's imprisoned for life.

Almost 100% of all manufacturing jobs have left the U.S. of A and Canada for cheaper places. Even Mexico is complaining about losing manufacturing jobs to countries like Honduras and Nicaragua.

China is known as "The People's Republic of China".

Taiwan is "The Republic of China".

The difference there being that the original government of China in the early 20th century, KMT, had fled to the island of Taiwan after being unable to handle both the Japanese and Mao's rebel forces. Taiwan had recognized Soveirngty over China from the U.N. until around the 1960's. That's why Taiwan has the "Republic of China" as it's official political title. It's just history.
