My company blocked some sites on the net.
Is there anyway to get around it?
Thanks!

kproxy.net, guardster.com, or any other of the multitude of web proxies out there.

there's probably a good reason why they blocked it. I know if (or when) my company blocks E90post, I'm not going to attempt to circumvent it, I'll just go on it when I go home. I rather have my job than the ability to visit some sites while jobless
Having said that, use a proxy like Jason said

If your company is really that anal about it they'll block those web proxy sites too. Is it worth loosing your job over it because you can't check your Gmail or Hotmail from work...NAH! Plus, they keep logs of what you do on the Interent (at least they know what sites you visit). If they see you're hitting a web proxy...you'll probably get a nice visit from the folks in IT. |

I'm just trying to get onto Discover's website to pay my bill. lol!
It's not like I'm trying to get onto a porn site or anything like that for that matter. Don't know why they would block Discover Card's website? Thanks for your help guys!

I wish I could tell you why they're blocking a public site like Discover Card. It seems strange that they do that.
Every company is different. |

at my work they use the barracuda system. most of the proxy sites seem to be blocked.
but as said, every company is different and they'll set what they want blocked.

I have an iPhone so the blocked sites are just looked up at a slower pace

You sure you want to use someone else's proxy when typing your credit card number in?
Most good web filters block proxies and anonymizer.

Doesn't work. I tried it. It's still blocked by Barracuda.

it's strange, but they must have their reason(s) why though
just pay it when you get home, or pay the bill early in the morning before you get to work All my bills are stacked in front of my monitor, in the order of payment due dates, never missed a payment that way.

Bimmer335i07, you might want to try Bill Pay Online through your bank online. Most major banks have this nowadays and I doubt your bank website will be blocked.

I used to the be the IT admin at a small company and controlled and filtered all the content going in and out. There's a good reason they are blocking it... so you don't pay your bills at work and do that at home. A lot of other reasons are for liability etc. but biggest one is productivity.
Bringing your own PC into the office won't help as these systems are all at the gateway and most default configurations state that any new PC in the network automatically gets filtered as well. IT has to specifically change user accounts / settings to allow you to get through. Trust me, you can lose your job over something dumb like this. I never made the call to fire somebody, but I have provided numerous logs and reports on how much time somebody spends browsing the web, what they're looking at, and the percentage of personal vs. work-related usage. These reports can be scary....
