F1 2024: Singaporean GP - Singapore (Sep 22)
https://www.formula1.com/en/racing/2024/singapore
Schedule First Grand Prix 2008 Number of Laps 62 Circuit Length 4.94 km Race Distance 306.143 km Lap Record 1:35.867 Lewis Hamilton (2023) Singapore When was the track built? The Marina Bay Circuit arrived on the scene in 2008. A street track with the city's famous skyline as its spectacular backdrop, the initial circuit plan by Herman Tilke was refined by KBR Inc, while the event has quickly established itself as one of the standouts on the F1 calendar. When was its first Grand Prix? In 2008, Singapore had the honour of hosting the first night-time race in F1 history. The Grand Prix – the 15th round of that season – proved a huge hit with the teams and drivers, while Renault’s Fernando Alonso claimed a controversial victory. What’s the circuit like? The Marina Bay Circuit is one of the most physically demanding on the calendar, its bumpy street surface coupled with humid conditions giving the drivers plenty to think about. Even after a 2023 layout change reducing the number of corners from 23 to 19, they are working the wheel a lot, too, around the high-speed lap – the physical stress causing them to lose as much as 3kg in body weight over the course of a race. I'm keen to address the current round of Liam Lawson rumours. Every week I see a rumour, but they are likely created to put pressure on Christian Horner. It usually goes like this: somebody says somebody will be sacked. Journalist asks Marko. Marko says he'd like to see it happen. Journalist asks Horner: Horner says no. End of story.
So unless you hear it from Horner, the answer is no. edit: according to Lawson, Helmut Marko has telephoned him and said a contract is coming. so now we await the answer from Horner, as long as Horner says no, the answer is still no. Last edited by G30M; 09-18-2024 at 03:47 PM.. |

My thoughts on the top 5 -
1. Lec 2. Per 3. Sai 4. Ver 5. Nor I think Checo will go well here, and unless he bins it into the wall again, he'll at least podium. His car performed well at Baku and if they truly have the balance dialed in for him, he's got a good shot. He won back in 2022. McLaren will go reasonably well, but speeds aren't as high so I don't think they'll get the flexiwing advantage and will be easier to pass, opening up the door for others. Leclerc is in top form right now. He seems to love the car. As long as he also doesn't bin it into the wall, or have a mechanical problem, he'll podium. Sainz is a bit of a gamble. Way less consistent but when he dials things in, he can dial them in. Obviously he won this race last year, so I can't put him out of the running. Max will go well, but this is a street course and is Checo's specialty. |

I'm going to pick Red Bull to right the ship (for a week) and come away with a bit of a shocker.

I feel especially after the summer break it will be interesting between NOR and PIA.I wont be surprised if PIA is in front of NOR here.
PS: Huge Ferrari fan and I am behind Charlese for the win that he missed in AZ GP. |

With an even slightly improved car (floor amongst other things) then, McLaren won't deliver here.

I'm gonna go for a bigger shock.
LEC for pole, NOR P2, VER P5. Then when lights out away we go, NOR loses 6 spots and VER P3 by lap 2. |

F1 wants to crack down on swearing.
I suggest 1s penalty for every F word, 2 seconds for C word, $500 fine for S word https://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/a...s/cly3vr0zg1lo |

This is my prediction. I don't think RB will make a big difference here. Especially McLaren and potentially now also Ferrari are too much ahead with their aero. And RB knows it. You also see it in the media, RB complaining at the FIA that McLarens wings are too flexible. If you have the ability to match that, you keep silent and make new wings that do the same or better. But the way things are going, NOR will destroy Max and get the WDC. With all the sprint races next to the normal races, there are still a lot of points to be given out. I don't expect RB to solve their balance problems this year.
My prediction: 1. NOR 2. PIA 3. LEC 4. VER (and he needs some luck for this place) 5. HAM 6. SAI 7. RUS 8. PER 9. ALB 10. ALO
