The 24 Hours of LeMons

Any of you guys been in this race? My friends and I are thinking about building a car and competing this year. Here is the website: http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/

Our potential car, a 76 Corolla.

We might actually go with a 240sx we found for 350 bucks. There is a $500 limit on each car and we probably can't swap a motor in that Corolla with that budget.

Yes it does, but it does not cover the safety materials (rollcage, shutoff, etc.)

Read the rules. They're hilarious.

Edit: Holy Shit !! I just realized my Yugo would be perfect for this.

Richard from Top Gear did one of this type of race in Norway on an episode I saw a few days ago. Fricken awesome! I may have to piece together a car for the Thunderhill race this year. Maybe I will go watch the Reno-Fernley one first. Looks like a blast, but 24 hours seems a bit long, especially for a $500 car. lol

Fine, let 'em. Then I will buy thier car at the end of the race for $500. Sweet!

Actually, I've been wanting to do this myself as well. Heard about this quite some time ago, and always found it both intriguing and hilarious. Think of it this way: for less than $1000, you get some 12-15 hours (typically) of track time per team!

Just don't forget to bring some tools and duct tape. Lots of duct tape. That could mean the difference between throwing together a temp fix to get you going and having to call it a short day.

Zip ties will work for tying things together, but what about busted hoses? Flappy body panels? Broken axles?!? In situations like those, we need "The Force" to hold things together!

(Ok, ok, maybe not a broken axle....)
