If they are too sloppy to run, put the in, "the chair": Legs spread out 6 inches wider than shoulder length, stoop until thighs are parallel with the floor, spread arms all the way out with palms up, place your favorite tomes of either the Encyclopedia Brittanica or Webster's unabridged dictionary in each hand then stand back and watch the fun!!

This is what they did in private school when we were a bit too rambunctious. It toned everyone down in a matter of minutes.

Had it been thunderous (wasting energy before the job is being done) the impact would've been weak, I suppose. A thunderous "ki-ai" should've been when kicking right.

I agree with you with the timing of a properly timed ki-ai would be executed at the moment the strike was delivered, but you can tell by his posture prior to starting his sprint, I get the he let the world know he's putting everything he has into delivering his attack.

I absolutely hate those idiotic scenes in movies when they just shout (to show off) and... like that's all. No egg laid. "Don't say, just do." I would guess it could only make sense for him to cry before start just to "perk up" a bit ("Mommy, look at me!!!" ).

Added: and yes, he's actually performing a block there. A test kime+kiai. Like "I am ready, ain't I?".
