I can't be on my knees at all without knee pads. I was putting down some pavers last week and knee pads I grabbed at Home Depot were worth twice their weight in gold.

My Mom had both of hers replaced at the same time., And then the inept jackasses at the hospital failed to get enough pain meds for her on the first night after her surgery. She was without pain meds for hours while they fiddled around trying to find someone to open the hospital pharmacy for them. After all was said and done, she admitted that having both done at once was a bad idea.

Used to have knee pain (pretty bad) in my late 50s/early 60s. Been doing a lot of leg and knee exercises for many years now: squats, lunges, stair stepping. All with weights.

Haven't had any knee pain for several years. Late 60s now and walk 3 miles almost every night. I take Friday nights off to have some tasty glasses of wine. Gotta have some fun. Cheers.

Many years ago, around 20, I went to a specialist about constant pain in my right knee. The doctor suspected a calcium buildup from my years in martial arts and suggested a surgery to scrape the calcium away. I wasn't too keen on that idea so told him I would have to consider it. A couple of days later the pain went away on it's own and has never returned!

You said he suspected a calcium buildup. Did he have X-rays or CT scan taken to verify? My doctor did and found arthritis and told me I needed to build up the muscles around the knees.

He originally sent me to physical therapy. I went a couple of times to see what exercises they'd have me do, then just started doing them at home.

They did a CT scan. He said we could try PT but he didn't have much confidence it would help. Did nothing, and now it's 20 years later and still no trouble with it since then. LOL...

Knock on wood.......

...you go to a live concert of one of your favorite bands and you are surrounded by old people. I'm talking about a sea of gray hair, big bellies, canes, a few walkers.

Last night my wife and I saw Chicago and Brian Wilson. Great show by the way. I just couldn't believe how many old people there were. They all looked twice our age!

I went not expecting much from him. My purpose was just to see a music icon and appreciate him for all he's done. Because I set the bar low I was not disappointed. Brian Wilson came out using a walker and sat behind his piano. They played many of the Beach Boy hits and Brian Wilson was singing some of the time. His voice was not perfect but you could tell it was him. Al Jardine was there too and as importantly, so was his son Matthew. Matthew Jardine provided really good vocals. He stood right next to Brian Wilson and when Brian couldn't come up with the words or was singing too softly, Matthew Jardine started singing those words to fill in the song. It was pretty seamless actually. On one of the last songs, I cannot remember which one, they actually let Brian sing the whole song without "helping" him. He did a pretty nice job with it given his age and condition. My wife and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

...and then...Chicago came on and blew the place down! The three remaining original members surrounded themselves with great musicians and a new (to me) lead tenor vocalist named Neil Donell. This cat has a 4-octive range and just tore up the Chicago tunes. Great job! The pent up energy of the the band was obvious. They are used to touring all the time and COVID shut them down. They were SO happy to be back in front of a live crowd and it showed. Great concert.

Here's a pic of Brian Wilson at the piano. My hat's off to you, sir.

Loved Teaberry gum. Hated the ice trays with the levers.

I didn't get all 17 but more than I care to admit. Party lines were before my time but I know what they are. What the hell is Butch Wax?

Butch Wax is what we put on our hair as kids. We'd get a crew cut at the barber and use Butch Wax in the front for style.

We have a family cabin with a bathroom attached to the woodshed. This bathroom is circa 1930s and in it next to the sink is a shelf with a jar of Butch Wax sitting on it. Once in awhile, I open that jar and put a tiny bit on my hair to remind me of the old days.

Had a crew cut when I was a kid, up until about the age of ten. Never used butch wax.

Again, stepping off your lawn.

Chalk boards, where you write whatever Bart did wrong that week.

My folks made us get crew cuts every summer. Now I have one all the time. What's old is new again.
