I went on the Carnival Booze Cruise to Ensenada this past weekend, and re-discovered the ill effects of Long Islands. But, when you gotta pay for each drink, Jack/diet was $8, getting 4 shots and a spritz of coke for $12 seemed the correct move. I haven't been shaky waking up in a long while.

Alright...got my lineup....so, first impression of the 20-year is....it's really good...but.....side by side with the five year which is very different in color, is not a big stretch. The 20-year Plantation is a beautiful color and quite smooth...but, I gotta say is not worth double the price of the 5-year. The flavor profile is very similar. The advantage to the 20-year as far as I can tell is the extra "smoke" flavor.

Finished up the Kraken rum last night. "Finishing up" a bottle isn't always a good idea when you need to work the next day. Just sayin'.

Well, I'm an everything drinker really...but as far as spirits go, I like rum, tequila and gin the best. But I get on a Vodka and whiskey roll as well.

Back to the Diplomatico rum tonight. And again, finishing up the bottle. I'm a slow learner.

I was reading an article today about not overdoing margaritas. They recommended a good tequila, fresh squeezed lime, and maybe some agave syrup. No triple sec or other orange liqueurs. I need to try that soon.

I don't like the mixes that are pre made for margaritas. This just suits me fine.

Good reading...those mixes tend to be artificial with Corn syrup. If you don't have agave on hand make a simple syrup..real easy and fast and fresh lime. Simple ingredients and big taste.
