Regarding international DL, just make an appointment at your local AAA. You'll be in and out in less than 30 minutes.

My experience has been mixed. In Europe I was asked for it a several times at the rental car desks, but not 100%.

In the Caribbean, I was asked 100% for an international license.

I appreciate it, I won't have time for it this time around (and it looks like I should be fine without needing the rentals, fingers crossed) but its a good to know for future reference.

No. I drove your itinerary in September, minus Switzlerand, plus Slovenia.

I have done a Germany-Switzerland-France-Luxembourg-Netherlands itinerary with no international driver's license.

I have driven in western European countries for 25 years with no international driver's license.

In summary: no.

With my luck Germany on transportation strike at the moment and I'm going to Germany on Wednesday, I'm flying to Berlin and it seems Berlin is still open at the moment, but even if I'll get there I need to go to Munich and then to Vienna, Austria in few days (I have some other destinations but not in Germany until I'll get back to Berlin on April 9)

I booked trains and buses in advance but it seems I'm not gonna be able to get on those, I started to think to rent a car.

I haven't rented cars in Germany or Europe before and was trying to see if there any recommendations I can get.

Thank you in advance!
p.s. doesn't have to be a fancy BMW I got excited first but my gf not supporting my idea for fancy rentals
Loafing along at 300kph. Trains are running fine in DE.

Good flight boneca ?

I didn't need one in Germany a couple years ago. Rented from Avis. Zero issues.

I drove from Zurich to Munich via Austria and back to Switzerland with PA issued DL. Rented from National, nobody asked for international DL.

yes, thank you, confirming transportation seems to be back to normal, no issues in Berlin today, waiting for the train to Munich as we speak.

Thank you for your help!

Yeah, but it'd be worth it I had more fun in this thing than I should have. No ban but a French speed camera did track me down back in the states.
