Military is an exception. It's not part of the free economy. As for reagsn, he chopped it when he got I so drastically that after raising it his 11 times it was still down monstrously. Top tax rate when he got into office was 70% silly.

True, you really think any politician or special interest group today would care though?

My point was that politicians today are too concerned about their own personal aspirations to bother doing the right thing if it's in anyway way politically risky. Plus how isn't the military part of the "free economy"? It fuels an entire private industry (government contractors).

I love it when foreigners that moved here say America sucks, but then dont go live where they came from.

The reason why America is so great is illustrated by Obama. Poor, mixed race person was able to become President. The only limitation is yourself in America, and even that is overlooked; coincidentally also illustrated by Obama, but that is a story for another thread.

Like was mentioned, the fact that killing a lion on the other side of the planet is national news, or that Tom Brady prefers wrinkly balls and not some disease taking out half the population or militias taking over the country or our entire country going bankrupt shows how easy we have it here. We may not be the best at everything, but we are near the top at most things, and will whoop anyones ass who says otherwise.

Now excuse me while I salute the flag, sing the national anthem and fire off 100 rounds out of my fully auto while drinking a beer.

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of months in 'Murica last year and I absolutely loved it, except Florida.

I believe our country is a better place to live though. One of the very few downsides of living here though is we get to pay about twice as much for our cars!
