Better Call Saul
Ok what the hell people?
No Better Call Saul thread?? If there is whoops! My mistake but I did search where I could on the lovely bimmerpost app! Anyway, who saw the 2 part premier? What'd you think of it? I think it was very well done, good story, and glad that's it's only in the Breaking Bad universe and that it stands on its own. I was worried it'd be a cheap spinoff skating on Walter Whites coat-tails. It was cool to see some recognizable characters too! If you haven't seen it yet, no spoilers wil come from me so I'll stop there! Go check it out and then post up what you thought |

I was pleasantly surprised. I'm expecting Walt to show up soon given the appearance of you-know-who. You'll be able to see the backstory of how Saul got connected. Gilligan isn't screwing around.

I thought it was great, especially the second episode. The line "I'm the best lawyer ever" had me cracking up when he was at the hospital. I think we have a winner on our hands.

Tight! It's a pleasant surprise. I expected them to do a good job but was also worried that it would be a little listless with too much back story. Seems they're just going to jump right in. Looking forward to next week.

i'm really interested in Mike Ehrmantraut's story.. curious how he goes from ex-Philly cop to parking attendant in New Mexico and ultimately how he gets involved with Gus Fring |

Agree on being pleasantly surprised.
I think he has a phobia of electricity (or electromagnetism?). Anyway, in short, he's nuts. |

I watched the season finale yesterday.
I was a bit confused to see Slipping Jimmy pass on the job with the larger law firm. Any thoughts as to why?

It's getting better. Season started slow. Are they trying to tie in all the events and characters eventually similar to Breaking Bad?

the point was to show how he went from a guy who wanted to do right to when he became a crooked attorney.

agreed, my point was, there is a breaking point where he snaps and go 100% Saul. The last scene in the last episode of the season foreshadows that he's now turned to Saul.

1. writers don't know wtf they want to take the storyline 2. they're stringing it out as long as possible to make money, they get paid per episode 3. they are in the middle of negotiating future seasons with the network and for some reason, don't want to move the story along. I noticed that for the most part, unlike breaking bad, none of the story lines really connect into a larger plot...they are all just individual strings/stories. There are a few common themes and returning characters, but for the most part, each story is just a story.

He was trying to get better though. He was trying to straighten out and do it "by the book" but he was getting fought at every turn while doing it. >>>Highlight for spoiler>>> The thing with Chuck last episode illustrated that when he realized that no matter how much good he does, to a lot of people including Chuck he will always just be Slippin' Jimmy. So he said fuck it, might as well do it Saul Goodman style. >>>
