My name is Joshua Manriquez man I got my first bmw around April/May n honestly ain’t ever thought I’ll own one well about a month or two ago I was in a situation where my original bmw a white 528i became unresponsive n no power was being giving to my car n I left it sitting I had a truck I sold n invested into another bmw same year 2008 n model 528i just black I was planning on using the 5k I got from my truck to invest into my BMW’s because I was doing research here n there n eventually made it a every day studie for me soon I became fascinated with BMW’s, unfortunately I wasted half of that 5k on so called mechanics on diognostics n replacements and stuff I assumed I needed cause I trusted there word until I became broke well i was determined to start up my original white one n fix the over heating n misfiring on my black one so I did more research invested more money into tools and books and parts until I became utterly broke…well long story short I’m at a stand still I wanna give up n junk these cars n just buy something that’s moble but I also don’t I pursued schools with bmw step programs created relationships with guys with BMW’s n enjoy them like me n just came so far to give up now is what every one expected from me I just want some guidance some help some knowledge information anything from anything to help me I wasted money on this Bavarian technic scanner n 5 series service n repair book n struggled for weeks just to afford a laptop to hook this scanner up too n don’t know what to do with it where to start where to look or what I’m looking at personal life issues too have me stuck n unfocused and unmotivated I just need some help or a mentor really anything… 4692516078 my personal cell

Hey Josh! I have a 2008 528 XI. I never thought I'd own a Beemer either. But I came across this forum and started getting the lowdown on these beautiful vehicles. One thing I think I can steer you towards, since you and me do not have unlimited funds, is the naturally aspirated six vs the turbo six. Since you're in the 5, high performance requirements should not be an issue. You are definitely going in the right direction moving away from mechanics and towards self repair. We normal folks can't afford to not go that route. So... good on you figuring that out on your own. I have a great Auto Zone that reads my stuff for me. Keep at your scanner though. If the guys on this forum gave it the thumbs up, you can rest assured they know what they're talking about. Youtube has been invaluable for repair assistance. I'm sure you're like me in that you know your way around vehicle repairs. However, the order in which things must be done on these vehicles can be found on Youtube and save you hours. I'm not kidding, HOURS. Learned that when I replaced the electric water pump at 100,000. Don't even try the oil pan without going to Youtube first. Hope this is helpful.

My advice is to get a laptop with windows 10 on it . This laptop you’ll only use for diagnostics. Get a usb diagnostic wire. Install inpa and learn how to use it
