Too many White AE lights to choose!
I've had a look at upgrading to white AEs, however there are soo many in the market.
One thread was promoting Mtec V2s with 3W, but ebay also has alot more with 3W. I like the ones that are on the latest X5s, they're so bright! I don't want to spend too much on these, I think ebay ones are just the same as the ones as sponsors have only difference is the price tag and branding. Which one did you buy and why? Tony |

Tony,
There are a number of LED upgrades on the market. They vary in brightness, color, reliability and output. We have had success with the WeissLicht brand which are a plug and play xenon white upgrade. It will be difficult to get to the output of the newer models however these do a good job of changing the color and making the install as clean as possible. |

No, these are not designed to be brighter but rather change the color to a xenon white output. If you are after brighter, go with an HID setup however it does require a harness and is not 100% plug and play. I also find the HIDs are too powerful but maybe that's just me.

Bought mine from John at Motorcepts. 5W. Haven't been disappointed. Brighter than Mtec's he says. Although I have no basis for comparison. I would speak to him.

X5 is a brand not referring to the BMW X5. They are 2 led bulbs that splits open when they are installed. It works well with the LCI models but if you use the daytime feature you'll get an error code. With the HID headlights, no error. Odd? I haven't figured that out yet but it's all good. Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H8-Wh...Q5fAccessories
or ****************************** Don't pay over $120 for similar bulbs but from a popular store. They ALL come from china or hong kong. I've used it since Jan with no problems still. If you want it on during the daytime turn your switch to the angel eyes but don't go on the idrive to check on the daytime feature. You'll get an error code then. Make sure you purchase the kind that splits open and with the cylinder resistor not the boxy resistor. If you do a search you'll know what I'm talking about. If you're in Houston, I'll help with the install. It's pretty easy. Good luck. btw my car is a 2008 550i LCI JL Last edited by racingluxury; 04-26-2011 at 12:34 AM.. Reason: adding vehicle |
