It needs to come with bigger tires and better tires. But here comes another 300lbs to add, at least.

I believe that only the Challenger GT is getting AWD and it's only a v6. The hellcat I don't believe has been confirmed to be getting AWD, but it will be getting a wide-body kit.

**EDITED** Only the Hellcat Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will be getting AWD with a Hellcat motor.

I thought it was going to be called "TrackHawk". Trailhawk is already a trim level for the Cherokee.....

In 2018 they are moving to the alpha platform which is supposed to drop a couple hundred pounds, so adding AWD will negate that so they'll probably weigh the same still

Update: This story has been corrected to remove the erroneous mention of an AWD Challenger Hellcat model; no such car is currently forthcoming. We deeply regret the error.

So take a really heavy car, redesign it to remove a couple of hundred pounds, add AWD, end up with a really heavy car.

Redesign a car to make it lighter, add a feature that will allow it to be marketed to a demographic that would've found it I feasible for a year round DD (northern states with snow). So they invest say a million to develop the AWD system (I understand it was more likely a lot more than that) and then make a profit selling to the couple thousand more people they are marketing towards now. Plus no other muscle car has an AWD setup. Yes I know it's only a v6 and not a v8 so hard to call it a "muscle car" but it's the foundation layed for a possible v8 muscle car with AWD or a turbo 6 if they go that route.

Now that the AWD system is in place, they can see if the market is available for this setup and if it is, they can alter the new platform if needed to accompany an AWD system more efficiently before making it a production model.

I personally think it's a good move for them to go because their car sales are slumping, mainly due to the quality of materials used to build the cars, but that's easier to fix imo than bad cars in general. Gotta spend money to make money.

they need to follow the z28 and get some square 315's. but with 315's and 4,000 lbs, they'll need better brakes.
