Nasal Cleansing

Anyone recommend me on this, I may have fluid in my ear drum causing tinnitus. Doc has advised 3 things, nasal spray, valvula maneuver (not sure how safe that is with a heart issue) and a netipot.

NOW, I dont swim and I remember at times getting bath water or similar up my nose and that horrible BURNING sensation,

If I use a netipot to clean my nose, wont that same thing happen ? I need to do it for 2 weeks, (all 3)

I was told Navage is better than a neti, any thoughts thanks !

You want this;
https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/ne...366526-product

If you have a really bad issue, you want to get their pressure washer variant;

https://shop.neilmed.com/products/ne...hydropulse-neo

Few things;
You used distilled water and you add their little salt packets which turns it into saline. Makes it not burn and you won't believe the gunk you get out of your nose.

Next, make sure you tilt your head correctly so it comes out the right side and not go down your throat.

Lastly, go see an ENT and do your due diligence on who's shitty and who's not.

First step is to go to walgreens and get that little bottle thing and some distilled water and try it out.

Op. this post is on the money - the products linked are made by the same manufacturer as Netipot. Be sure to use distilled water, and the packets, when mixed with the water, will eliminate any burning sensation. As the poster wrote, you'll be surprised by what you wash out of your nose! If you have any breathing issues, you'll find you will really appreciate how this simple process improves your breathing.

Tinnitus is usually incurable. If one sided and pulsatile in nature there is a problem and you may need an MRI. If non pulsatile and or in both sides there's little to worry and learning to live with it is the best. It's surprisingly common.

txs all,

my tinnitus best described as a continuous sine wave in both ears all the time, soft, but when in a very quiet room goes up, it is "liveable" but I'd rather not.

I do have blocked nose and pre-nasal drip. I'm also told it may be as a result of my heart failure.

I have problems equalizing pressure in my ears, I can blow but my ears don't pop.
I've ignored it and also ignored the coming and going of the sound, but now it's constant

Thanks for the fantastic advice, and yes you've made things a lot clearer

The nasal drip could be the side effects of cardiac meds. The pressure issue seems like eustachian tube dysfunction. A trial of nasal steroids is to be discussed with your Dr unless you can get them over the counter

I've had the nasal drip for decades, I think that's what they call season rhinitis
but your points are well taken, I've forgotten the name but the spray prescriber is a steroid
trying to get all my ducks in a row before I start taking things

I found a YouTube video a couple of years ago (should have saved it) with various tinnitus “rings” and could match exactly what I experience. Unfortunately there is really nothing to do with that information.

Since I have hearing aids (don’t often wear them, tho), it would be really nice if they had the ability to play the “noise canceling” pattern that offsets my tinnitus. I’d really like to know if that would cancel it, recognizing that the tinnitus is not actually a sound heard, but a neurological or brain special effect. I would think if that worked it could be incorporated into noise canceling earbuds/headphones as well.

Anyway there are all sorts of tinnitus “remedies” and tricks online, but as far as I can tell there are none that have any scientific/studied basis, proven and repeatable results, or really work. It is still a “live with it” condition, although for some it can be severe and somewhat debilitating.

I use a Navage, works really well. Years ago I was getting headaches because my sinuses weren't draining properly, had a surgery to correct (they basically widened the openings to my sinus passages), fixed my deviated septum at the same time. Took a couple months to fully heal but it definitely worked. Anyway, my ENT recommended the Navage which I still use periodically. You mix in these saline powder packets with distilled water which adjusts the pH to prevent that burning sensation when the water is running through your nose/sinuses.

^^^ yeah that, maybe desperately thinking unblocking the fluid may help

I got the basic little blue bottle. When I'm ready to take a shower, I put a packet in the bottle. Filling from the warm shower head, clean my nose, then I can wash my body of anything that may emerge during the process.

Practice before, breathing in/out of a single nostril without using your finger to physically block. Create a mental block below your throat. That way when you LIGHTLY squeeze the fluid thru, it doesn't go into your brain. I always plan on 1/4 of the bottle going up each nostril, swapping entry nostril each 1/4
