SRV & Tom Morello are my top tied-for-first
The things Tom can do on a guitar are simply genius

This is great, new guitarists to research. Morello and Stevens I never heard of.
Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Gary Hoey... |

Too many to name but a few that cross all genres, Hendrix, Page (more as a song writer), Clapton (paying homage to the Kings..Freddie, Albert, BB) Buckethead as a shredder, Van Halen, SRV (see Clapton notes), Vai, Randy Rhodes

Yea, way too many to list, and most already have... except one... Prince. Not the first name that comes to mind, but in no way should be the last. Here is some eye candy....

Asking who the best guitarist ever is like asking what the best car is... Vague. I agree with some of the submissions above... And would like to add John Petrucci. Even though Victor Wooten is a bassist, I'll rep him any day.
Most people can't handle it... But there are countless amazing guitarists/musicians in the various hardcore scenes |
