Alps Tour 2022 /// HGT'22 - 9 Days of Driving Bliss in The Alps

We all have our passions – for me it is driving towards the most beautiful roads in the world and if possible with friends and their Bimmers. So we've accomplished our first international tour that last 9 days and went amazing with all sort of adventures and experiences! A very special word to mjn77 that so kindly help us with all elaboration of the event. From giving us all sort of tips and advice to leading our drives in very difficult passes in considerable complicated weather conditions. In the end everything went beautifully to all of us and people and cars did amazingly well.

Therefore here's our tour in detail so that anyone can inspire themselves or to others to do or join us on future tours. This should make a great reference for anyone planning travel towards the Alps. Germany not only do we have great Autobahns but also some of the best gateways to the most beautiful roads in the world.

As of 4th April 2022 gas prices were:

Netherlands [95]: € 2.33
Austria [95]: € 1.76
Italy [95]: € 1.87
Germany [95]: € 2.13
Luxembourg [95]: € 1.75

We had chance to get some proper gas namely V-Racing 100 (Shell) in Germany and 102 with Aral (BP) .. but with other prices that the ones listed above.

Day1 - 615km [The Hague, Netherlands ->> Stuttgart, Germany]

First day from us will mainly be to meet Richard in Netherlands that is coming from UK along his E63 M6 and we'll be driving towards our first destination. Stuttgart. Overnight and meet up more people to a gorgeous Day2.

The F20 has lower than 100k on the clock before the tour. Let's see how it behaves on the mountains. Car has been driving all life in flat soil.

Day2 - 392.71 km [Stuttgart, Germany ->> Andermatt, Switzerland]




Today we're joining more friends and we'll have a great day ahead! Let's start with a nice gathering at Porsche Museum area and do a nice tour before hitting the Alps.

We arrive hotel after a long day of travel and demanding effort of the cars. Until now everything has been a fantastic experience.

Day3 - 286km [Andermatt, Switzerland ->> Sufers, Switzerland]





Initially we planned to split our Day3 in 2 parts. Planning tours towards Alps are challenging and this time wasn't exception therefore we adjust accordinlg the roads and passes that were available to drive. Considering that Grimselpass was closed we start our day focus on SustenPass. We could not made it all missing the last corners to reach the top but it was a gorgeous ride up. But first things first. Breakfast was awesome!

No matter what we want to make sure cars are at most of the times with full tank to avoid any surprises



Drive to SustenPass was spectacular. Weather was super favorable for a lovely run!




SustenPass top was closed but we could feel the potential of this pass. We'll be back!


From SustenPass we took the next pass. Furka here we come.

After this morning stunning passes we were hungry and with usual help from CruzM3 we found a very interesting and cute local restaurant.















Hot afternoon and off we go towards our third pass of the day. Still driving in Switzerland towards San Bernardino Pass.

But first things first...

After a stunning drive towards the top of the pass we were thrilled with the unexpected scenery that we just found.

I'll never ever forget this moment. It was like 'everything happen for a reason' and it was fated for us to live such a moment.

Day4 - 275km [Sufers, Switzerland ->> Bormio, Italy]





Another day ahead! More excitement towards a few more passes and this was going to be a tricky day for some of the cars.

Alex's B58 still complains on some mountain compliance and now a 'Emergency' warning came up! It's time for a OBD2 call.














CruzM3 also needs some attention. No reason for alarm but let's keep both Alex and Antho cars under radar.


After proper evaluation we're moving down toward the hotel and there's one more pass before we release our legs and give cars a well deserved rest.

Day5 - 161km [Bormio, Italy ->> Imst, Austria]





For our fifth day we plan the shortest drive from the tour. We plan... Let's see if that still stands. We're fortunate to have StelvioPass open according the webcams and local sites info and therefore we look forward to a epic day and probably one of the most exciting ones from the tour. It always been a dream for me to come to Stelvio and today we're putting all energy to make it happen.

Day6 - 237km [Imst, Austria ->> Campitello di Fassa, Italy]





The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road 🇦🇹 recently started its season and we're glad to be coming up! Also we plan to stop by at the TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum Crosspoint. We'll drop by the Jaufen Pass na dlook forward to eat some gorgeous cake at Ötztal Edelweiss.

After the lovely visit to the museum we're moving forward and it didn't took much before next stop.
