Haha...I graduated in 1986 from high school. Between cutting school to go skating, surfing, bodyboarding, etc. it's amazing that I graduated.

Same here. I was a major goof off. Failed several classes and barely passed by the skin of teeth. 22 years later, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Geology. Just had to grow up enough to take education seriously.

I'm working my way through Jackie Wilson this evening. This one is Lonely Teardrops. I looked for a decent video of Your Love Keeps Liftin' Me but couldn't find one. At least in this Ed Sullivan Show clip Jackie shows some of what he could do in person.

That is a great clip. Loved Jackie Wilson and loved Ed Sullivan. Watched his show on a regular basis when I was a kid.

I went to a Sunday evening performance featuring Van Morrison and Lee Michaels at The Family Dog at 1268 Sutter Street in San Francisco in 1968. In the context of what else was available then in the Bay Area (and there was a lot), the musical experience was magical.

Having been to the Family Dog many times before (I grew up in the City), what I remember most is two things: 1) going on a Sunday evening was great if you only wanted to see and listen to the performers (this was early, before every evening became a mob scene); and, 2) Van Morrison was very clearly the real deal, and Lee Michaels was also worth the price of the ticket.

I had no way of knowing it at the time, but that was pretty much the last opportunity to listen to exceptional, fresh, and creative performers without being in the midst of a very large number of fans.

Sounds like a fun time. I was 13 in 1968, living in L.A. Have never seen Van Morrison in concert, but would've love to have, especially back then.

I remember Lee Michaels. My sister had a crush on him when we were kids. Here's her favorite song by him. Of course, I liked him too, but not in the same way she did. lol
