The self driving car thing was BS pushed way too fast and way too hard. If it ever comes to pass, we're at least 20-30+ years away from it. Even then, it's likely only to be in cities with well defined roads, low speed limits, etc.

Regarding the Tesla company sham itself, it's only hope is to be bought by Apple for pennies on the dollar.

i have to agree... i believe it was a novelty feature that was being marketed and tesla themselves did not anticipate or predict that people would take it literally and attempt to have a completely autonomous vehicle. either way at this point m&a is the best option unless some private equity firm steps in and dumps cash or takes them private.

For now, I don't trust it. I like adaptive cruise and lane keeping assist, but anything other than that is still beta imho. Much more R&D is needed, which is not to say that Tesla should stop what they are doing, nor any other manufacturer, in working towards that goal.

I think they'll survive, though I've never expected Tesla to exist in the long run. I always saw them as the spark that helped actually mainstream EVs.

Theoretically and in a completely daydreaming state of mind I would love to see the entity that owns SAAB acquire Tesla and bring the brand back to life. Northern Europe is EV crazy and they're also huge SAAB fans. You get a "tent pole" brand with current tech along with manufacturing and you now have something more marketable.

Isn't some Chinese firm own SAAB and is currently gearing for EV only already?

NEVS acquired them but then shelved the name to use their own when they partnered with two (?) Chinese companies.

I just put another 10k into Tesla, historically they might dip below 200 they will rally back up.

Also if you haven't tried auto pilot and youre knocking it, then you're a fool. Its an amazing feature that I wish was on my M5. You type in an address and it brings you there. Very cool for when Hawaii traffic clogs up the roads and it isn't a fun commute. You can also hang a water bottle from the steering wheel to simulate the occasional required human interactivity with the car. Tesla is way ahead of the game of other EVs, Rivian is the talk of the town right now but no word on features or QA. Also, who else has multiple gigafactories to make the batteries?

I've said this before, Musk has pulled the company from the brink before. This time it seems worse, but I said that last time it was below $200 and it went up to $350. The difference is that every new model reveal has been met with enthusiasm and bolstered faith in the company. The Model X and Model 3 reveals were buzzworthy and people were getting in line to order a year out. The new Roadster and semi trucks? Looked like a bright future. The Model Y? Looks DOA. I'm not so sure Musk has anything else up it sleeve this time. The Model Y was it and it
put everyone to sleep. But I've been wrong before so... prediction: Tesla will be doing something drastic in the next few weeks. They have to.

I think Tesla is at a point where it needs some adults in charge... Elon was great for the initial hype buildup and a great figurehead... their CFO is also quite possible the shadiest and most intelligent character I've ever heard of... any other company pulling the antics they are would have by now been bankrupt...

My 2 cents-

1) get rid of Elon asap and replace with an experienced automotive head
2) consider a a co op... not merger with the likes of a real automotive company i.e. Toyota VW or even BMW that has 10x times the automotive manufacturing experience and efficiency... also learn quality
3) drop the model Y... its unecessary
4) continue to gain production efficiencies and improve quality while offering attractive lease deals that get more people into the cars
5) drop the focus on bullshit like autopilot... this should not be a priority but more of a later focus add on... its not there yet and won't be there for a while, i test drove it in Miami and was legitimately scared
6) focus focus focus first and foremost on making a legitimate battery powered car with high quality
7) consider going private again with different sources of funding...

These are painful adjustments that in the end will results in a better company.

Too little too late
BMW is in bed with Toyota now
VAG already has their electric cars on the horizon
Keep in mind these all will have full EV credit incentives making them potentially 7500-10000$ cheaper than Tesla's box on wheels

Last I checked Tesla is doing fine. The haters nevver stopped talking the doom and gloom, the owners are still enjoying their cars and the cars are still Superior.

I don't understand why some of you spend so much time and effort $hit talk a company. Just makes you look foolish and envious.

Listen to competent and smart people without an agenda, not some Elon Musk hater living under a rock couldn't afford a Tesla.
