I don't know if it exists for renter's insurance, but for life/health insurance, you would want to get Guaranteed Renewable. This way, they cannot cancel or let your policy expire unless you don't pay your premium. Of course, Guaranteed Renewable costs more money than if it doesn't have this provision.

Lot's of insurance companies bailed outta Florida. Had too to avoid going under, rates across the country have gone up as a result of the last round of damaging storms.
