Matt is a BMW technician . He also already lives in SoCal, so maybe somewhere else in CA but not the LA area.

There ya go Matt.

Ft. Lauderdale is a nice place to live....

or move to Montreal.... hottest girls, best nightlife, beautiful city, amazing summers, nice winters(sometimes a little cold) nice ski resorts, great golf... a very european city..... the whole nine yards....

to be honest, one of the best cities in North America, not because i live here but its somewhere you really have to experience, especially in the summer. F1 weekend is out of control...

One downside..... the city is suppose to be 50%french 50% english, but its more like 80% english and 20% french

I would stay in California - San Diego is as close to Nirvana as you are going to get. I am from New England - the winters are too long...Florida is great for the geriatric set and West Virginia......hmmm, I too keep getting these visions of "Dueling Banjos" and inbred hillbillies....oh, and stay clear of Texas - too damn hot and muggy (especially Houston) and the landscape is more like a moonscape with tumbleweed thrown in....

Thanks for all the suggestions, please continue! =)

I'd love to come to Canada. My father is actually from Montreal, he's a green carded American. He's English-Canadian, though, and I don't speak French. I think if I was to move to Canada I'd like to be near Vancouver. This decision is based almost exclusively on the proximity of Whistler-Blackcombe. that's MY Nirvana.

As far as Florida, I've been there a few times, at various times of the year. Beautiful, but not for me. Toooooooo muggy. Heat is ok, so long as it's a more dry heat. I'm not ok with humidity, really.

Since all my friends, and my current job, are in SoCal, logic says stay here. Problem is that it's sooo expensive to live here, and I'm also ready for a change of scenery.

I liked Salt Lake City when I went there, seemed like a very nice place to live...

I guess where I'd like to be is cheap NICE living (not ghettos!), near (within 1 hour of) high-class ski resorts, with enough civilization to have a good social life.

The proximity of a BMW dealership is NOT a must. I am a multi-talented individual... a Matt-of-all-trades, if you will, and I can find other lucrative work.

In the last eight years I have lived in AL, NC, VA, TX. San Antonio has the lowest cost of living (based on real estate), and no state tx out of your paycheck. If you are on the partying scene SA is okay but you can easily shoot to austin. VA is very nice but very expensive, I wouldn't live any further N than Richmond (not in the city too much crime). AL is nice but if you like big cities check out Birmingham or Mobile, Huntsville is nice if you are an engineer or mathmaticain. NC is nice in Charlotte or Raleigh Durham.

Hey, WILTON? Rinky dink, tiny town, population 25,000?

I grew up in Wilton, CT, my hometown!

What's your aunt/uncle's last name? Maybe I know them.

Near Stamford is pretty cool, but pretty expensive. Close to NYC. Cold in the winter.

Jacksonville, FL - yes, muggy, but if you leave near the beach it helps tremendously. I lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, outside Jax, for 4 years. Loved it.

Baltimore - good city, lots of fun, lived there for 2 years.

Richmond, VA - small town feel, muggy, good place to raise a family. Can be lots of fun, too.

I think you should pick a place based on weather, and proximity to the ocean. San Diego would be a great place, but very expensive. Not too many warm places near good skiing. Boston has a lot to offer if you can brave the cold and find a good job to pay the <high> rent.
