Touch up work question

Scratched up the rear bottom of my 21 M5C (don't ask me how ) and would like advice on how to fix. The side panel and rear bumper is scratched on the bottom. Should I take this to the dealer to touch up or do myself? Would a commercial body shop be better?

Thanks.

Any professional body shop will recommend replacing the panels.

Any plastic panel scratched like that will not be able to be perfectly repaired, hence the replacement.

Least expensive option would be to try yourself.

Talk to a detailer. I had something similar on my alpine white F10 and my detailer knew of "a guy" that repainted the underside of my front bumper and it looked great. Cost me like $300 or so.

I would just replace, but contact a good detailer in your area and see what they think first.

There is absolutely zero reason to replace that bumper. Please dont spread mis-information. Only a place trying to rip him off would suggest replacing anything here. Plain and simple.

Just touch it up and leave it be, it's way underneath. Nobody will see it.

Hi, you should ask a shop for a good touch up. The damage is really hidden, it will be hard to see unless you point it out.

Looks like an excuse to get back skirts, carbon diffuser, and carbon exhaust tips to me...

Yeah, definitely not the bumper, but likely the shadowline diffuser. They come pre-finished and are practically just 1-stage garbage pieces anyway. Taking some compound to that scuff alone will likely make it look worse. I'd do a proper/ good quality touch up of the bumper and likely leave the tip and diffuser alone for a while until I decide to replace or upgrade them.

Question on this...if I get the carbon diffuser, does that come with entire lower bumper section where mines is scratch or just the middle piece?

I received a similar small scuff/rash mark on my rear bumper at the bottom of the fender and was quoted $5k to replace. Needless to say, the minor scuff remains and unless I point it out, nobody sees it.

Watch out, you may be accused of “spreading misinformation”!

Hahahahahahahaha

Just because someone quoted him to replace it doesn't mean it was the right thing to do. Ever heard of being ripped off?

I'm speaking from a professional standpoint, how about you?

Jesus, you’re wound tight.

This whole post is personal opinion on what to do.

All I originally said was any professional place, if asked to make it look factory new, would say panels need replaced. They do, IF you want a perfect repair.

WWJD? Who knows.

One person might not want to pay to even touch it up, and take a crack at it themselves.

I’m sure some of the neurotic types would want it repaired perfectly as well.

Ripped off is relative.

Price is only a concern in the absence of value.
