Correct. At least for the first year of production.

Diesels are making very little sense in Europe now, and other markets don't care about the big motors as much.

Some minor updates, but one item is of importance to people planning to order an M3 or an M4: if you care about Individual, place your orders soon.

Is this through the end of production in 2027/2028? Or will individual be available again after LCI? Is LCI confirmed and if so, any news on LCI design or extent of changes?

To be completely honest, now that I've had time to dig into this, I don't fully understand what's happening anymore.

I've posted this to the thread that just got spun off based on that one comment:

BMW is taking away the "Individual Composition" option for all M3s and M4s as of 7/1/23. For good, LCI included. I have no idea how this option is used. It's not something you check the box for when ordering, it's not an option I see on existing cars with individual paints and other individual things, but it could be a hidden requirement for them. Or maybe it's nothing. Maybe someone with access to the actual dealership ordering tool can look into this and explain.

Unfortunately it dropped straight onto the front page - meaning the beast has escaped and is about to start making rounds on the internets.

This will teach me to do quick updates while on the run.

It's awfully quiet about that model. The eDrive35 got some attention and is available on the configurators but nothing on the xDrive40...
The definitive answer to your question is now in the top post.

Looks like it’s been a special option package in the past that includes individual exterior and interior colors.

@ynguldyn

I understand this is something you would probably not be able to answer at this time, I nevertheless wanted to ask:

What is the likelihood of BMW bumping up the power output on the G80 base models during with the upcoming LCI in MY2024? I am first on the waiting list for a base M3 at my local dealer and I am still waiting for allocation.

As a follow up question, when do you anticipate that we'll have more information about what the LCI will include?

Thank you for your time and everything you have done for this forum and community!

MY2025. Very low.

Don't expect much. Exterior/interior redesign, maybe some hardware improvements. No significant new functionality.

BTW, I've just noticed one thing I missed previously. While the LCI for G22/G23/G82/G83 is in March 2024, the changes only get into G80 in July.

"Individual Composition" (XC4) is equipment package for paint, leather and trim from Individual Collection. So if they are taking away this, that doesn't necessarily mean no SA490 paint for example. Not mentioning that M3 CS, which was just released, will have Individual Paint options to choose from.

So it's just a packaging change and is not the same as the end of availability of the separate components of this package?

Yes, I believe so. For now I can still see the package, but from July it disappears from the configurator. But separate options (490, SABI leather etc.) are still there even for July.

There’s currently a rumor floating around on various BMW forums, claiming that the brand’s Individual color program for the M3 and M4 is dying in the U.S. According to the rumor, Individual paints are out for the M3 and M4 and won’t return for this generation, even after the LCI comes. If that’s true, you’ll have to wait until the next-generation of M3, which will come on the Neue Klasse chassis, to get a unique color for your M3 or M4.

However, according to our sources, that’s just not true. The initial post was referring to BMW Individual Composition which is something that was never really offered in the United States anyway. As far as BMW’s Individual program, this is incredibly profitable in the U.S. market, with such paints costing around $5,000 each, it’s also very popular. Our sources say that BMW doesn’t even know where the rumor started from and that Individual paints will continue to be available on the M3 and M4 in 2023, in the U.S.

It’s relieving to hear that BMW will keep its Individual program. Of course, it’s more money that I’ll likely be able to ever own, so I don’t have any real skin in the game. However, I do love a good Individual color. My opinion has been stated multiple times here, that if you’re getting a special car, get a special color. Enough white, black, and grey, lets’ get some blues, reds, and yellows in the factories in Germany.

I can understand the panic, though. This will be the last purely gas-powered BMW M3 in history, so there are tons of people looking to buy one with a special color. If you’re one of those people, the rumored news of BMW shutting Individual colors for the M3 and M4 must have been devastating. Thankfully, we’re here to tell you that the rumors aren’t true and that you can still get funky-colored BMW M3s and M4s, to upstage your boring neighbors with.

ynguldyn do you still see an M2 Competition at some point in the lifecycle of the G87? According to BMWBLOG they're saying BMW plans to skip an M2 Competiton and go straight to an M2 CS.

I read it differently; it is suggesting that CS is more of a foregone conclusion than the Competition. I didn't get the hint that there won't be a Competition version.

But who knows what BMW is thinking these days

The quote below is part of that article. Seems pretty clear that they don't think there will be an M2C.
Quote:
If a BMW M2 CS does happen, you can expect it to jump right over the M2 Competition. The base G87 M2 already starts at the power levels and performance of the previous M2 CS F87. We experienced that while driving a prototype last year. So there is a smaller gap to close now between models. As you’d expect, there are currently rumors in Munich about an upcoming M2 CS. Furthermore, it seems that it’s going to be the only other model variant of the G87 M2. As far as we know, there isn’t a G87 M2 Competition currently planned.

Any idea if the vehicle in this patent submission is a future model or marketing fluff.

You can stick your head out the window of your electric car after you've added some fuel fragrance and reminisce about the good olé days

I'm assuming because it would lower the pricing too much for their "Halo Car".
