Overall side profile of a B-2 I would think falcon, but the front beak section I can see how one would see a flying saucer.

I don't know about him, but the only thing that I got was a replacement MOSFET amplifier chip from Radio Shack to fix the left channel on my car's radio. (You know you're old when you could still fix car radios from Radio Shack stock parts.)

Taking the dog for a walk about 6 or 7 years ago at night, there was an oblong shaped craft going at a constant speed travelling at about half a mile high flying on a straight course.
It was orange underneath with black lines going across it and made no sound as it flew past. It wasn't a Chinese lantern or anything like that and a balloon would never go at that speed.
I stopped a car coming up and the couple couldn't make out what it was either.

My dad and grandpa both swear they saw a UFO. They were fishing at the end of dusk just before it was fully dark, and they saw a strange light across the lake above a ridge hovering just above the ground. It sat there for a while then shot straight up without a sound and was gone in the blink of an eye. Neither one of them are the type to make up stories.

Why would aliens visit us? Well why wouldn't they? If they are intelligent enough to develop space travel then they are probably a curious species and, just like humans, would want to learn everything about life on another planet.

Why would they travel all this way just to make a mistake and crash? Or create lights in the sky? I would suspect that just like humans they can make mistakes. Or maybe atmospheric conditions cause things to happen unexpectedly, just like our own tech is affected by various things. We can't assume they have perfected everything just because they travelled across space.

I think we (humans) are too close-minded to really understand what life elsewhere could be like. We think and rationalize within the limits of what we understand, what we see, what we are fed.

We, as humans, have some innate need to explain things, even if we don’t understand them.

That’s why our brain works as follows:

“I have no idea what that strange light in the sky is…. IT MUST BE AN ALIEN SPACECRAFT “.

The first part of the statement above is where a rational person would end the phrase - full stop. But as humans we don’t like the unexplained, thus we illogically add the remainder.

I suspect the ‘saucers’ seen during the 50’s were military aircraft based on German designs such as the Horton HO 1X GOTHA 229

It’s easy to see how it’d be mistaken as saucer shaped & would have been unlike anything previously seen in the sky at that time.
I suspect that 99% of sightings that aren’t natural phenomena to be advanced military craft/drones but I think it be foolish not to remain open minded about that 1%
