Dodge Challenger SRT DEMON 170
I was browsing YouTube and cane across one a streamer who I've seen racing: Demonology. He was taking delivery of a vehicle I've never even heard of before.
Now I'm not a fan of this car per se, but, I do appreciate what it is. However... I had no F****** clue of what this VERY Special and Limited Edition model was! Props to DODGE for releasing a ICE monstrosity from the factory for the road! Quote:

I shot one of these in November of 2023. I'm not a fan because I prefer the look of the previous version with the wide front flares and cooler wheels, but they're bad-ass for sure.

I see drag cars as badass in the same way the Model S Plaid is badass.

I remember the teasers Dodge were releasing with easter eggs and all for the launch of the original Demon, which wad unlike anything I've seen before.
They're big and dumb but something about their brutish power makes me happy. |

lol this thing again
i remember when they touted a 9.6 quarter mile with the original demon in 2018. car and driver took it to strip and did everything they could and averaged an 11 second quarter mile time with 100 octane. more than likely a tune+ downpipe g80 takes this new demon's lunch money on the street.

Rear wheel drive? So is the 1.66 seconds after the 5 seconds it spins it’s wheels?

All these people hating on a car they have never driven. Typical BMW owners, honestly.
Drive the car. Have the experience. It's worth it. And I'd own a Demon just to hear it START before I'd drive a Plaid. Numbers aren't everything. Acceleration isn't everything. It's all in the way the car makes you feel. |

The Challenger was the best pony car, it was fast comfortable and didn't pretend it was a track car. It still handles better than 95% of drivers could handle, but with usable room and a comfortable drive. Great cars. My favorite was the 392 TA. Still plenty fast, but a little stiffer and more taught, and all the glorious muscle car sounds you can handle. Shakers were cool too, but they needed more shake, lol. |

Put 27.5K miles on the car. Never tracked the car. It was ok on my 60 mile a day work commute -- about 58 miles freeway -- as long as I didn't keep track of how much I spent for fuel. Also, I had a 2nd car -- 2018 MINI JCW 6-speed -- which I drove 3 days a week. The Hellcat got the call just 2 days a week mainly to give it some use. It did not like to sit unused for long. Battery drain was a thing and while the engine always fired up the low battery level caused a low power glitch which upset some of the car's electronics. Was living in Livermore CA at the time and there were some nice "mountain" roads about. Roads I had enjoyed in my Boxster, Cayman S, Porsche Turbo, but on which the Hellcat was clearly out of its element. Sure, it never was touted as a sports car but gee the handling... As an aside it didn't work in favor of the Hellcat it came fitted with all season tires... I bought it off showroom floor and was too cheap to toss new all season tires for high performance tires. After 33 months and 27.5K miles I traded the Hellcat in for a 2020 Scat Pack 6-speed. A less powerful car -- to state the obvious -- with "just" 485hp but 200+lbs lighter than the Hellcat and with a noticeable lower center of gravity. That supercharger even though situated quite low on top of the Hellcat engine still had the Hellcat center of gravity uncomfortably high. The Scat Pack came with high performance tires which made half a world of difference and for the better. Now living in Benton County AR with some very nice roads about the Scat Pack was actually enjoyable on these roads. But after 18 months I traded in the Scat Pack for a 2022 BMW 230i. While I no longer have the 230i -- I traded it in when I bought a 2023 M2 6-speed -- I recently (last Dec. 3) bought a 2024 230i xDrive. Monday's forecast calls for 4" of snow. So the 230i xDrive is a better fit for me than the 230i with just RWD. |

Lol. Exactly. Maybe the owners can keep some VHT in the trunk. While the light is still red, pour some on the rears and smoke them up. Then your ready to go Stock X-drive m3/4 would be so far ahead of this thing in a real life street race, you probably wouldn’t even need to shift into 4th gear. I agree with whoever said this thing would be cool for the strip. Full on slicks. Street driving, nah

Been down the high HP RWD cars forever. Got the GTR and now will never own another big power car unless it’s AWD. You guys want the ass end kicking out here and there, have at it. Just not my cup of tea anymore. My M-4 has all sorts of traction issues. So I guess that’s my fun car But I will tell you one thing. Find someone with a high power AWD car and do some rolling launches with it. Bet you will be hooked on that shit.

It's not really a pony car. Pony cars are stupid. Challenger is more like a standard sized coupe. It's a more useful size, where you can fit a human into the backseat. For that size class it's perfectly fine weight wise.

So basically it's a Charger with two doors.

Yes. That's almost exactly what it is. Not a bad thing either.
TBH, I kinda view it as more like a modern Pontiac GTO vs a Camaro. It fits more in line with something like a BMW 6 or 8 than it does a 2 or 4. It's intentionally bigger, and that's as good thing. That extra size and comfort and space is why it thoroughly trounced mustang and Camaro sales. |
