2011 Formula 1 Qantas Australian Grand Prix
Are you ready for the new season?!!!
Like the good old days, the season kick start in always interesting and exciting Albert Park!!! The past three Australian GPs were won by British Drivers (2008 - Hamilton / 2009 & 2010 - Button). Will RBR dominate the season again? I dare to say, 2011 will be very interesting and exciting season with so much unknown and variables to the race outcome. I will try to keep up with the race schedule for the next 7-8 months! Race Date: 27 Mar 2011 Circuit Name: Albert Park Number of Laps: 58 Circuit Length: 5.303 km Race Distance: 307.574 km Lap Record: 1:24.125 - M Schumacher (2004) Tire Compounds Provided: Prime: Hard (Silver) Option: Soft (Yellow) Rain: Intermediate (Light Blue), Wet (Orange) F1 TIMETABLE (Melbourne Local Time) Fri 25 March 2011 Practice 1 12:30 - 14:00 Practice 2 16:30 - 18:00 Sat 26 March 2011 Practice 3 14:00 - 15:00 Qualifying 17:00 Sun 27 March 2011 Race 17:00 F1 TIMETABLE (Pacific Time) Fri 25 March 2011 Practice 1 (Thu) 18:30 - 20:00 Practice 2 22:30 - (Fri) 00:00 Sat 26 March 2011 Practice 3 (Fri) 20:00 - 21:00 Qualifying 23:00 Sun 27 March 2011 Race (Sat) 23:00 F1 TIMETABLE (Eastern Time) Fri 25 March 2011 Practice 1 (Thu) 21:30 - 23:00 Practice 2 (Fri) 01:30 - 03:00 Sat 26 March 2011 Practice 3 (Fri) 23:00 - (Sat) 00:00 Qualifying (Sat) 02:00 Sun 27 March 2011 Race 02:00

Yahoo!!!! Finally! I've been going through F1 withdrawl. ALMS has been fun up till now, but I'm really interested to see who steps up to take on Red Bull.

I wouldn't exactly say RBR 'dominated' last season. Should they have dominated? Sure. But they dropped the ball and nearly lost the WDC to Ferrari. They barely squeaked through at the end with a bit of luck and some very mature driving from Vettel.
Here's to hoping that Ferrari and Red Bull are a bit closer matched on pace than last season. Looking forward to the discussions to come! Predictions: RBR will the fastest, but will still suffer from reliability issues. FA will show more of his characteristic consistency than last season and make it another close championship. Mercedes and Renault will mix it up from time to time, and Mclaren will be struggling to get on the podium. Last edited by Echo M3; 03-21-2011 at 01:33 PM.. |

Even FIA President Jean Todt claimed that Formula 1 needs Australia. I wonder how much FIA can influence the location. Given all the commercial rights were given to FOM.

It is not just Australia's event that is in trouble, the global economy will dictate the outcome. Look how many of events that have already been cancelled in the past for various reasons. In the future Bernie needs to realize that all ransoms are not paid and people move on. This is just another example of a sport pricing itself too high. On another note, I just want to thank you E90SLAM for all the great pics you posts from the events, it's almost like being there with those great pics.

Saw an article today about the Driver's possibly striking because of too many buttons on the steering wheel.
If anything, there needs to be more variables to induce driver error. I don't want any of them to die as a result, but you can't make the sport tougher and more competitive without inducing a little bit of risk. Risk also makes the reward so much sweeter. Lets hope that it was just a journalist running their mouth.
