Guys, what is the best pickup truck for reliability driving and towing?

Hey, what pickup trucks do you guys recommend? I have about 10 grand to spend, i want a good reliable truck that i can attach a dolly to the hitch and tow 4000 lbs cars. I will be buying cars from auctions and i need something to transport it...any input would be great...

This truck is in FLA. If it has the 3.4L then $10,000 is a down right steal for a TRD with 73K miles. They will last longer than you will. And it was lady driven.

2001 Toyota Tacoma, 4dr, Sr5, TRD package, 73k miles, has been driven by a lady , very good cond, never had any engine problem, $10,000 call if you are interested

A Tacoma is a marginal towing truck for his application, since he'd be over the towing rating. To haul cars around, you really need a full size 1/2 ton truck at the minimum, but ideally a 3/4 ton or 1 ton full size truck. Depending on how far you have to tow, a diesel is a better choice than a gas motor.

This looks like a tow monster: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...177278588.html

Same here:
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...178507153.html

This one has probably been worked pretty hard, but it has 170,000 miles, so you can see how long a Dodge with a Cummins diesel will last:

DEFINATELY not a tacoma

i would go for a diesel, they are great for towing and last a long time.

Can you go more in detail into what your looking to do?

Ram. I had one back in the day. Plenty of power, cheap, and never broke down.

F-150. HA
Hell no!! You can pick up Ram 1500 and 2500's for dirt cheap now. Even without being slightly Dodge> Ford. Dodge's are better built trucks hands down.

^ With Dodge being trouble, you might be able to get a real steal as well, I remember they were doing buy one get one free on Dodge trucks somewhere in Florida back in December.

ADD was at work early this morning. Did not read..4000lbs. NO TACOMA FOR YOU.

My Titan's lease is up next month. Went to sell it months ago. 29K sticker 05' with 32,000 miles. I was offered 6K by my dealer. This was when regular was 4.5 a gallon though.

That being said you should check around for a 1/2 ton that someone needs out of.

obviously everyone is going to have their own opions on whats better

so you should look at each truck for towing capacity, consumer reports, price, and overall appeal .

if it were me it would be a ram or a tundra

I had two Rangers. (Not a car towing truck) Some aspects not very reliable. Wont buy a Ford again. In the reliability dept I would put my money on Toyota. But as someone mentioned, Tacoma is not ideal for towing cars. I would step up to a Tundra, but thats not gonna fly on $10,000 budget. Maybe a Chevy?

If you're hauling just one car, those above are good choices. If you just might buy 2 cars, or even three, you need a dually witht he fifth-wheel hitch. Dogde desiel is the call regardless.
